The Lucknow Women's Institute
monthly meeting was held February
12 at the Town Hall. A luncheon
was served at 12:30 with hostesses
Lois Goodhue, Rita Gilmore and
Edna Young.
Mabel Whitby was in charge of
the meeting, in -the absence of
president Dorothy Brown.
The meeting opened with the
Opening Ode and the Mary Stewart
Collect. A. reading by Mabel Whit-
by
hitby was followed by the minutes of
the last meeting and the treasurer's
`report.
The rollcall was Why I .continue

Mrs. Goodhue was in charge of

The meeting closed with the
Queen.
Mr. Manfred Kuras grad-
uated from Southern
Ontario's School of
Auctioneering on
February 16th, 1991.
Mr. Kuras is a resident
of Lucknow.

George Thompson, of Clinton,
has been selected to receive the
prestigious Nuffield Travelling
Scholarship, and will be in the
United Kingdom studying agricul-
ture for the next four months.
The
Canadian Nuffield Scholar-
ship Association announced that
Mr. Thompson, son
ac

from Huron County, habeen
awarded the scholarship to study

land stewardship and conservation
issues.
Mr. Thompson is a graduate from
the University of Guelph. Over the
past couple of years he has been
actively involved in the evaluation
of
OMAF's Land 'Stewardship
P
pursuing Program and is ursuin his IVI.Sc.
degree, as well as continuing the
operation of his cash crop farm.
The Nuffield Scholarship ars p Picogram

fanners study agricultural practices
in other Commonwealth countries.
Scholars are selected according to
their abilities to acquire understand-
ing and to share it with other mem-
bers of the agricultural community.
The Canadian Nuffield Agricul-
tural Scholarship, Association
announced two scholarship awards
this year. Ian MacPhadden, a farmer
from Saskatchewan, has been
pur-
suing
ar
suing his scholarship in Australia
and New Zealand. Both Canadian
scholars will be participating with
other countries' Nuffield scholars in
Great Britain and France, during the,
month of March.
The Nuffield Scholarship Program
has been operating since 1951 and
awards scholarships annually Y
cover the costs of a four-month
studyP� 'od in Australia, New
Zealand and/or the United King-
dom. On their return scholars are
expected ed to share their understand-
ings
ndors nd-ings and experiences with their
Canadian pars.
