The new year is already seeing a
broadening of our scope of seivices.
During the past three years, we
have dealt prhnarily with problems
arising from the farming crisis
gripping the rural communities. We
now with increasing frequency hear
from faltering small business
owners and people, who for the
first time in their lives, are
unemployed and despondentP
These callers present a new

All it takes is some ingenuity and

Depression can set in during the

perhaps together, we can conquer
what seems impossible to do alone.

tion to area residents: "Do you have
any (opinion on the high salary

Dave Black
• Dave Black said that if an owner
is willing to pay aplayer that much,
they should get it. Re speculates
that in the future plays will "reach
for the sky" and not get it. Mr.
Black wishes he was in their shoes.
Jane Nielsen •
Jane Nielsen believes that if you
take- into account the money
generated through fans and sports
events, it's (Gmbees contract) not
out of league. The players are high
profile and it is part and parcel of
sports today to receive high wages.
She said that the Blue Jay As-
sociation is next to the Maple Leafs
and they generate money into the
city of Toronto. Without high
profile, exciting players in a club,
the interest wouldn't be there.
Ms. Nielsen also reflects that
without good players, there would
be no interest and the SkyDome
would not be able to make the
revenue needed.

Tony Wartnaby
Tony •Wartnaby believes the
wages are way out line for all
sports. Mr. Warinaby doesn't
understand how you can justify
giving a high salary over one
year.
He stated all sports' salaries have
gone crazy. He would like to know
how much the owners make.
