UCW chooses anniversary theme
The fall meeting of the
U,C,VV, was . held on Sept-
ember 21 at 8 p,m, in the
fellowship room.
President, Mrs. Robert
Finlay, welcomed all mem-
bers, and then turned the
meeting over to: the Citiz-
enship convener, Mrs, Eldon
Ritchie, and her committee,
Mrs. Ritchie_ opened the
meeting with a poem, What
Is A Friend?
Mrs, Glen Waldenset the
atmosphere for the meeting
by conducting a sing song of
some favourite hymns:
The theme of the meeting
was 1982; A Special Year °-
Our Twentieth Anniversary.
Three members, Mrs. Eldon
Bradley, Mrs. Charles Dav-
les, and Mrs. Stuart Collyer
took part in a dialogue which
portrayed the role of women
in the . early years of the
church, • before and after
union, and the changes
which. have evolved in the
procedures up tothe present
time.
Mrs. Stuart Collyer led in
prayer, and Mrs, Charles
Davies read . the scripture
which dealt with the story of
Mary and Martha, two wom-
en of the Bible.
A brief skit, Two Dresses
in a Clothes Closet, was act-
ed out by Mrs. Harvey
Houston and Mrs, Charles
MacDonald, It reminded the
group that used clothing
hanging in the Ifloset could
be given to charity and put to
good use.
A reading, Beatitudes of a
Housewife, was given by

Mrs. Eldon " Ritchie, • Mrs.
Gordon Kirkland and Mrs,
Stewart MacGillivray took up
the collectionwhich was
dedicated by Mrs; John Mc-
Donald,
The meeting closed with
the Mizpah benediction and
the president returned to the
chair to conduct the busi-
ness, •
