Purple Grove community picnic winners are named The Purple Grove Com- munity Picnic was held Sun., Aug. 29 at the Centre, star- ting off with races and games and finishing with a well prepared delicious "Pot Luck Supper". The winners of the 3 yr. old and under race was won by Gabe, Cristy, Ian •, Meagan and Danniell. Winners of the .4 and 5 yr. 'olds were in order, Mandy, Donna -Jean, and Tania. Winners of the 6 • and 7 yr'. olds were in order, David, Kelly, Stefani, and Teresa. Winners of the 8 and 9 yr. olds in order were Angelo, Sheena, Maryanne, Michell, and Todd. • Winners of the 10 and 11 yr. olds were in order Andrew, and Jennifet. Winners of the 12 and 13 yr. olds were Tam - m3( and Torrin. Winners of the 14 and over, in order first arid second were Lorrie and Cindy. Everybody enjoyed the Potato Race. It is not clear • as to whom had the Most fun, those watching the race, or the children trying their best to make the potato roll across the finish line with their noses. ' Visiting with Bob and Judy Thompson, Todd and Rob- bie, last week was Judy's sister and her husband, Lor- na ai\d John Parson from Saskatoon, Sask. •Mr. Ed Bloetjes and Leslie • Longford of London, visited with John and Mary -Ellen Rimmelzwaan on Sunday. Russell McMullen of Van- couver, and Bertha McMullen of Toronto visited on Monday with Howard and Mad Thompson. Mr. and Mrs. D. VanRooyen Sr. of Chatham were three day guests of Bill and Marg Van Rooyen and family. Francis and Ruth Van Rooyen helped David Hodgins and his family with haying. Maureen, Jennifer, Angela and David visited with fami- ly on Wednesday and Thursday. Mr. • and Mrs. Victor Gawley went to see.the Quiet Land in Blyth Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Green- wood, Jean-Paul, Joel and Joy -Ellen were visitors with Mr. and Mrs. John Farrell and family on Friday and Saturday. • Lea Elliott of Minden, On- tario visited with her Grand - )parents Mr. and Mrs. Earl Elliott this week. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hodges of St. Catherines were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Farrell, Teresa, Tania, and Tobi, on Friday., Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mer- ville •of Linden, Michigan were visitors of Marion Emerson and Bob Emerson on Monday and Tuesday. , Thursday afternoon Susan Emerson and Sandra Lane were visiting with Marion and Bob Emerson. • A few from the Purple Grove community attended the Bell Family Picnic held at Mr. and Mrs. Ross Shiell's in Lucknow on Saturday, • Weekend visitors with Marion Emerson were Mr. • • • • • and Mrs. Andrew Jamieson. of Woodstock. Ontario, Mr. and Mrs. Brian King held a family gathering at their' home in Teeswater in honour of Dianne Dore, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Dore and ,fami- ly who are home for a visit from Calgary. A few Purple • Grovers attending from here were Mr. and Mrs. Harvie - Thompson, Mrs. Claude Dore, Mr. and Mrs. Bill McInnes, Linda and Karen,, Rob and Todd Thompson visited with their cousins Matt and Brad Rhody on Fri- day afternoon. A house warming party held at Donald and ' Mae Dorisof • Dornoch, was well represented by Purple Grove friends.
