Born 4 miles east of Lucknow on the Kennedy Homestead in 1883, Mr. Kennedy moved to Winnipeg in, 1902.and now resides in West Park Manor on Grant Avenue. George Kennedy of Goderich;' formerly of Lucknow, is Alex's youngest brother. Mr. Kennedy was a carpenter for over. 50 years. and ran a used car lotuntil the age of 92 when he retired. He has one son, Ray, two daughters, Jean and Margaret, also 15 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and four • great, great grandchildren. Deadline' extended The' Canada Post Corporation has . ex- tended its deadline . to stop rural mail delivery on Saturdays to September 25:of this year. The extension was . given to help newspapers adjust tonew publishing times in order to get their publications to the public. 'In the Lucknow area the cutbacks' 'will affect 462 rural customers within: the the area served by .the Lucknow.' post office. Last week Canada Post Corporation pres- ident, , Michael . Warren, announced that Saturday rural delivery would be suspended in all provinces except Prince Edward Island. The elimination of Saturday delivery will affect 2,700 routes throughout Canada and save an estimated S4 .million annually. { Child hurt Lorri Anne Aitchison of Ripley is in stable condition after she became entangled in a grain auger on the weekend at her parent's farm. near Ripley.
