Mrs. Ruby DeBoer. .The
meditation was on the lesson
of the Fig Tree.
The topic, Cracks in Our
Cultural Mosaic, was given
by Mrs. Alan Falconer.
The offering was received
by Amy Falconer. Prayer by
Mrs. DeBoer closed the
devotions.
The president, Mrs. Don
Ross .presided for . the
business: The. Roll Call was
answered with a verse . on
Friends, In the absence of
the Secretary, Mrs. Bill
Purdon, the .. minutes were.
read by Mrs, Alan Falconer.,
Mrs. Don .Rossgave a
poem, To bay. It was

• Olive Blake has_ interesting visitor

Jean Hall of Wingham and her.
mother, Florence. Hall of Bimbrook
visited with Olive Blake of Lucknow
on Saturday.
Mrs. Hall' was the wife of Olympic
track and field champion, Eric Little
whose Olympic accomplishments
were featured in the Oscar award
winning movie, Chariots of Fire:
Mrs. Hall was raised to young
adulthood in China where her
parents were missionaries as were
the parents of Mr. Little. He returned.
to China following. the 1924 Olympics
and later became engaged to Mrs.
Hall, She came to Canada to train as
a nurse at Toronto General Hospital
and returned to China where they.
were married..
They . remained in: China as
missionaries until 1941 when she left
to bring their young family of two.
children to Canada. Mr. Little was
subsequently interned in a Japanese
concentration camp during World
War II and died there in 1945.
Mrs, Hall later remvried and her
daughter. Jean is a child of her
second marriage. Jean is an oc-
cupational therapist at. Wingham and
District Hospital,
Mrs. Hall acted as a resource for
the film, Chariots of Fire and says
the film is 95 percent accurate and.
factual. The characterization of Eric
Little is faithful and Indeed Mrs. Hall
fqund the actor who portrayed him
had learned to run in Eric's style.
