Wheelchair marathoner in Amberley Dan. Altars of London, the 20 year old University Student, who has been travelling across Canada in a wheelchair since June 1 to raise money for the Canadian Federation 'of Sports Organizations for the Disabled, arrived at Amberley. on Sunday, then returned to Goderich .for 'ations Club Parade on Sunday afternoon. On Monday morning he arrived back at Amberley at 7 o'clock by car to start out on his; journey by • wheelchair and planned to reach Wiarton by night. A large crowd of people from Kingsbridge. to Amberley; • the Kingsbridge Girl Guides, the •Girl Guides and leaders presently at Camp Kewaydin, Ashfield Reeve Warren Zinn and Deputy Reeve John Austin were all present to greet Dan when he arrived. Guide Leader Betty Lou \\Dalt'on 'aind the .Kinks - bridge Girl Guides presented Dan with a donation. Dan was very grateful for the reception he received and started off on his journey with some of the "fans jogging along beside hiin. Dan started his marathon in Halifax on June 1 and arrived in. his home town of London on Thursday night with 2,000 kilomtres, of 'his 6,400 kilometre . Cross Canada trek behind him. ..He' was stricken ,with polio at age one year and normally is not confined to a wheelchair: He wears a brace on his right leg to help him to walk and to drive.
