St. Joseph's Catholic
Church in Guelph was the
scene, of a pretty spring
wedding on Saturday, April
24 at 2:30 p.m. when Jean-:
netta Marie Johnston and
James. Bradley: Di Carlo,
both of Guelph, were united
in marriage.
The `'Reverend Father V.
Macnamara officiated at the
double ring ceremony.
Organist -soloist John Marin.
of Guelph provided the
music which included Ave
Maria, Perhaps Love and On
This Day.
The brideis the daughter
of Mr. and, Mrs. Morley
Johnston of R.R. 2 . Auburn
and the groom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Di Carlo of '
Guelph.
The `bride was escorted up
' the aisle. and ' given in
marriage by her parents.
She wore along formal gown
of white chiffon over satin,
styled with 'a high neckline,
sheer lace yoke, .blouson
bodice, • full bishop sleeves
and long skirt extending into
a train. Frost guipure- lace
with seed pearls adorned the
neckline and yoke of . the
dress. A three tier veil with.
lace trimming completed the
ensemble. Each tier was
held in place by a Juliette
cap.
The bride carried a
cascade . bouquet of white
roses, stephanotis • and
baby's breathaccented with
peach colored ribbon.
Matron of honor was Mrs.
Charlene Scrignoli • of
Guelph, friend of the bride.
She wore a long formal gown
of peach colored polyester
jersey, featuringfront and
back yokes of matching lace,.
long, full sleeves and belt
tied at the waist. She carried
a bouquet of white roses,
peach colored carnations
and baby's breath,
Bridesmaids•• .were Mrs.,
Gale Buffett of Stirling,
sister of the bride and Mrs.
Marti Valeriote of Guelph,
sister of the groom. They
were gowned the Same as the
matron of honor and Carried
the same bouquets.
Groomsman was Robert.
McKay of Guelph, friend of
the groom. Guests were!
ushered into the church by
Doug Gibson and Sam
Caravaggio, both of. Guelph,
friends of the groom.

tuxedos with white carnation
boutonnieres.
Following the ' wedding
ceremony, a reception was
held at Victoria Park Golf
Course in Guelph. Emcee.
was Mrs. Mel Finbeiner of
Guelph, aunt of the groom.
The bride's mother
greeted guests wearing a
' long blue polyester gown
with an empire waist,
pleated skirt and a corsage
. of white gardenias.
The groom's mother
assisted wearing a long
turquoise colored polyester
gown with a high ,neckline.
accented with a frill and a
corsage of one orchid with a
silver ribbon.
Guests attended the
wedding and reception from
Auburn, Brantford, London,
Lucknow, Guelph, Stirling,
Owen Sound; Blyth and•
Goderich.
For a •wedding trip to
Ottawa. and New York, the
bride changed to a bright red
street length dress with a
blouson bodice, long sleeves
and corsage of white roses.
Mr. and Mrs. Di Carlo now
reside at 14 Home Street,
Guelph.
Prior to herwedding, the
bride was feted at a tea and
dinner given by fellow
employees at the London
Psychiatric Hospital; at a
shower given by relatives
and friends at St. Joseph's
Catholic Church; at a
community shower given by
Donnybrook Church; and at
a neighbourhood shower
given by Mrs. Fran Fairfull
of Guelph.
Following a brief business
`session, the three afternoon.
units of.. Lucknow U.C.W.
met on June 1 in the Fellow-
ship Room with Mrs. Vernon
Hunter convening the pro-
gram.
An impressive worship
'service, with the theme, A
Gift for all Seasons, was
presented by Mrs. James
Mathers, Mrs. Eldon Brad
ley, Mrs. Bill Hunter and
Mrs. Walter Dexter. Mrs.
Edna McDonald led in pray..
er. .
Mrs. Hunter introduced
the guest speaker, Mrs.
Sheila Fink of Goderich, who
is the originator and co-or-
dinator of the Adult Basic
Education Program. Remem-
bering the admonition,' Bear
ye one , another's burdens,.
she felt Itawas'her Christian
duty to try to help this group
of people who had a real
desire, to learn. They meet in
Knox Church, Goderich, ev-
ery Monday night, where
they are taught basics in
reading and writing. The
tutors are volunteers . and
meet the students on a one to
one basis, books being do-
nated ated by the Huron County'
Library. She told interesting
personal experiences of sev-
�` eral individual students and
the joy they received through
learning..
To show the appreciation
of the group, Mrs. Dexter;
presented Mrs; Fink with a
gift.
Mrs. Harvey Houston and
Mrs. Raynard Ackert sang
the duet, Nov, I Belong • to
Jesus, accompanied by Mrs.
Victor Johnston..
U.C.W.'Unit3
`Unit 3 of the Lucknow•
U.C.W. met in .the choir
room' for their business por-
tion, chaired by, Mrs. Ross
Shiells who welcomed 'every
one. The roll call, The Glory
of God,. wasanswered by 15
members.. The birthday jar
was well represented with
' birthdays.
Mrs. A. Kilpatrick report-
ed she and, Mrs. .Grace.
Campbell had. visited the
Pinecrest Nursing Home and
Wingham hospital.
Mrs. Lawrence MacLeod
thanked all who had supplied
flowers for the church in
May.
Mrs. Charles McDonald
asked for food and helpers
for the two dinners, June 2
and 15 and the wedding June
12.
Mrs. • Shiells closed the
meeting with prayer, and we
joined units 1• and 2 in the'
Fellowship Room.
Junior institute tours
agri :park,. attend play
The monthly meeting of
the Lucknow Junior Wom-
en's 'institute was held on
May 11 at 8.00 p.m. in the
basement of the Lucknow
Town Hall.
Various ways of support-
ing the community through
seyeral projects were discus-
sed. The June . meeting .is
going to be a tour of
Agri park which sounds very
interesting. During the sum.

The annual fall conference
will be in Owen Sound this

delicious lunch and social
hour concluded the meeting.
