GIVEN FAREWELL AT FOREST
On Sunday last Rev. Dr. J. B.
Ffoulkes concluded a pastorate of ten
years in the Roman Catholic parish
of Forest. In the morning be
preached his farewell sermon to a large
and appreciative congregation, and In
the evening tbe congregation met at
his cottage at Hillsboro Beach, bad
i - terawebtsopper, aM presented him
with an address and a purse of $50.

A meet enjoyable picnic was held
In Jowett's Grove, Bayfield, on Wed-
nesday afternoon, by the members of
the Ladies' Aid of Knox Presbyteriau
church and their families and friends.
About sixty sat down to an excellent
picnic supper served by the ladles

OBITUARY
DUANB PRECIOUS
The funeral of Duane T. Precious,
who was drowned when the tug Moi -
arch, owned by. the Nicholson Tran-
sit Co., Detroit, eapsised In River 8t.
Clair on July 6th, was held from Vic-
toria
ictoria street United church, Ooderich,
of which deceased was a member, on
Saturday last. Duane was the son of
ar :at: M:. s3 P.I:L Wm. T. i' eeione
and was born In Goderich, April Il),
1912. Orphaned •t the age of seven,
he was taken care of by his uncle and
aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hoggarth,
wit& whoa be Used until Mr. Meg--
gartb's death. He then went to Port
Huron to live with Mr. and Mrs.
Prank Nicholson, and attended the
public and high schools of that city.
On leaving school he was epployed by
the Nicholson Terminal ane Dock Co.
and at the time of his death was in
the employ of the Nicholson Tranrl:
Co., Detroit. Affectionately called
"Red" by his schoolmates and fellow -
workers, he was greatly loved for his
ready smile and kindly disposition and
by his employers for his hooesty and
faithfulne3s to duty. Left to mourn
his early death are his uncle and aunt.

Port Huron, being especially beauti-
ful. The funeral service was con-
ducted by Rev. F. W. Craik and the
pallbearers were cousins,. Alt. Given,
Billy White, Harold Hartway, Harvey
Nicholson, Eddie Nicholson and Chea-
ter Nicholson.

MRS. WILLIAM BiCHAN
On Saturday afternoon the mortal
remains of Mrs. William 'Behan, a
former esteemed resident of Goderich
townehlp, were deposited to their final
resting place la Maitland cemetery.
Mrs. llichan, 'those maiden name was
Isabella Armstrong, came to Ooderlch
township with her husband in 1.883,
they having been married three years
before et Speedaide, near Guelph.
They bought a farm on the hayfield
road a few miles front town and be-
came active participants in the life of
that community. Brought up in the

valued member of the session under
the ministry of the late Rev. Jas.

er and followed her profession until
ber marriage to Harold Keenan, her
home now being at Port Arthur. Tire

settled on a fruit farm at Vineland

for younger daughter, Dorothy, chose
nursing as ber profession and is ac-
tively engaged In Toronto. Mr. Bich -

In 1915 and three years later Mrs.
BIeban sold tbe farm and went to live
at Fergus, afterwards joining her son
at Vineland, where she remained until
his marriage last year. She thea
went for a lengthy visit In her daugh-
ter's home at Port Arthur, and It was
there she developed the ailment to
which she succumbed last week. On
the advice of ber physician she returned
in March to Vineland, accompanied by
Mrs. Keenan, and was tenderly cared
for there until the end &time on Wed-
nesday evening, July 18th. Bbe leaves
behind, besides ber three children,
two grandsons, Billie and Bobble Keen-
an, and three sisters, Mrs. Cooper of
Galt and the Misses Armstrong of
Guelph and many loyal friends. The
funeral service at Maitland cemetery,
Ooderich, on Saturday afternoon was
conducted by Rev. F. W. Cralk, who
old he bad received a letter from Mrs.
Bieban's Lome minister expreeaing his
regret at not being present at the
grave and testifying to her virtuous
life end work in their midst. The
pallbearers were Robt. Davidson,
George and Robert Mcllwain, Olitlr
Edward, Chris. Johnston and Robert
Andrew,. A goodly number of old
neighbors and friends gathered round
