The following firemen answered the call: Bob Johnston, Harvey Pollock, Brian Pollock, Jack Scott, Bill RobinsourGeorge McLean, Ted Rouse, and Rod. MacDonald. It was a chimney fire at the brick , home of Rene Poirier located at the foot of the twelfth concession where it joins the Boiler Beach road in Huron township. The two fire trucks travelled north of Ripley two blocks on the 15th then • down the 12th to ex- • tinguish the fire. • At present Lorne Emmer- ton is a patient in University Hospital in. London being treated for head concussion \\ and a broken wrist. It is ' reported that he fell from the roof of their home on the Tenth Concession east in' Huron township on Satur- day. He was rushed to, Kin- cardine hospital and then transferred to London. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne • Hellyer and daughter Ruth Ann of Markdale visited on Sunday with Mrs. Jennie McLean and with George • and Joy McLean in Ripley. Colin MacLennan of Agin- court is visiting.with his aunt Florence MacDonald. Taking advantage of the .1 warm dry spell Orven and Doris Rock were high above the main street east last • Thursday evening as they were repairing the flat roof on their apartment and shop in RiPleY. • Former Ripleyite, Noel MacLeod is being married at the end of May .to Diane Crowther of Toronto. His mother Mrs. Bette MacLeod is having a garden party reception on Saturday June 5 at her home on the fourth concession east so everyone can celebrate with the happy couple. Festivities start at two p.m. with supper at five. . There will be a wedding in the Knox Presbyterian Church ill Ripley on May 29, Allison MacKay, daughter of Allister and Pearl MacKay of the 6th Concession east • in Huron township will. Marry Paul Wilken, son of Carl and Eva Wilken of Kincardine. The reception dance will be in the Ripley Huron Com- munity Centre Complex on Saturday night May 29. Also in the Ripley Complex • on Saturday June 12 the Ripley Firemen's dance will be held with Siddon Bros. or- chestra. The Ripley Happy Hearts Senior Citizens Club held a pot luck dinner last Thursday noon in the Ripley Legion Hall. There was a good attendance, Herb Em- rnerton and Percy Gregg of Kincardine provided special entertainment. Last Friday flarlie Baker returned home to Belmont in the London area after spen- ding a week and a half with Mary and John C. Mac- Donald here. Charlie makes this early sunnier' visit back to Ripley each. year and friends are always glad to see him. During this he visited with Virginia and Wilfred Hackett in the Lucknow area for a couple of days. Other Ripleyites who now call Belmont home are Don and Etta Willsie and Stewart and Winnie Mac- Donald.
