Reeve Grant says the administration and
welfare costs for social services to the county
last year were $1.03 million dollars while this
year the county is estimating the costs will
be $1,55 million. "And there is a chance the
.welfare payments could be much higher if
some of the furniture factories in the county

The cost of the new Brace County
administration building, totalling 1.75 mil-
lion will cost the county' taxpayers. 5300,000
this year. with the rest of the cost being

Upkeep of theroads for 1982 has been
estimated at S1.48 million compared to last
year's 51.26 million. Kincardine will get a
county road rebate of 50 per cent, up 10 per
cent from last year, according to Reeve
Grant.
The Kincardine library gets 55,704. for
maintenance this year, up 51,900 from last
year's budget.
"There is absolutely no way we can
reduce these costs," Reeve Grant says.
Kincardine mayor Chuck Mann says of
Kincardine's requisition, "I 'do believe it
appears to be unreasonable increase. The
federal, provincial and municipal govern-
ments are trying to hold the line. It doesn't
look like Bruce County is listening. This will
move up the taxes about a mill and a half.
A mill is roughly 554,000 ` according to
Kincardine clerk Charlie Merrit.
Formai Protest '
Port Elgin town council` is considering the
possibility of formally protesting the high
increase, although no definite plans have
been made. That town's requisition is
5229,605.
Huron Township's requisition'is 5208,344
while Kincardine Township's is 5165,343.,
and Tiverton's is .521,956.
Bruce Township, which has the highest
assessment in 'the county because of the
Bruce •Nuclear Power Development, has a
requisition of 5315,465 while Ripley's requi-
sition if $18,680.. .°
Southampton's requisition to the county is
5146,863 and Walkerton's is. 5182,726.
Amabel Township, with a large tourist
industry . has a requisition of 5226,839.
