A most pheasant time was spent on Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Bili Burt with Mrs. Don Bushell co- • hostess, whenover thirty ladles gathered for a surprise birthday party in honour, of Mrs. Frank Maulden; • Mips May Boyle was chair - lady and welcomed everyone to this happy ' occasion and. also led in a sing song. Humorousreadings were given by Mrs. Kay Collins, Mrs, Don McCosh, Mrs. Olive Needham, Mrs. Tom McDonald, Mrs Don Robert- son.. May Boyle read Bess' life storyand the present*- tion of a beautiful old rose and . pink fancy quilt was, presented by Bernice and Betty and a flower plant on behalf of the gathering. Bess, though taken com- pletely by surprise, thanked everyone for their kindness in remembering her and making her birthday sucha special day for her. Mrs. Gertrude -Walsh ask- ed the blessing before all. partook of a bountiful smor- gasbord supper.
