the late Mr: Tom Purdon who
passed away Tuesday even-
ing. The funeral was held on
Thursday at Lucknow. Tom
resided in Whitechurch for
many years when he worked
for -the Department of High-
ways. Later he resided ,in
Lucknow:
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Far-
rier, Kimberley and Amy of
Guelph spent the weekend
with his mother, Mrs. Agnes
Farrier and on Monday went
to Collingwood to Blue
Mountain for a few days to
ski during the winter. break.
On' Tuesday evening Mrs.
Gertrude Tiffin of Wingham
visited with Mr. and Mrs.
Victor Emerson and Mrs.
Purdon of Wingham visited
with Mr. and Mrs. Wesley
Tiffin..
On Sunday Mr. Robert
Campbell of Wingham had
charge of the services at
Chalmers Presbyterian
Church for Rev.' John, Bell,.
who was at Finch attending a
wedding.
Mr., and Mrs. Bill' Purdon
spent a few days last week at
Chatham with Mr. and Mrs..
Donald Gaunt, Jennifer and
Graeme.
Mrs. Rose Blazing of Neu-
stadt visited with Mr. and
Mrs. . Victor Emerson on.

from the Institute District
Directors meeting at Ripley.

Mrs. Ethel Stewart became a

improving which her many

A number of the MacDon-
ald clan came to . the Mac-
Donald home at. Lochalsh last
week to gather as, a family
and visit with old friends and
relatives in the community.
Frank MacLennan, grand
son of Mrs. Rhetta. MacLen- -
nan, is the goalie ifor. the.
Ripley 'Midgethockey team.
Frank has had a very busy
week playing with his team
in •the tournament in both
Wingham and ,Goderich.
Kenny and Mary Irwin and
daughter of Newmarket visit-
ed one day last week with
their aunt and uncle,. Charles
and Mayme Wilkins.
Julie MacDonald, daugh-
ter of Gedrge and Andrea
MacDonald, spent time with
her aunt and uncle, Mike and
Brenda Lazette of Tiverton.
Brenda. brought Julie home
and. then visited .with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer.
Culbert.
Mr, and Mrs, Max Rieg-
ling and children visited on
Wednesday with Mrs. Rieg-
ling's sister, brother-in-law
and family, Matt and Ursulla
Richardson of London. Jay
and Dean Riegling stayed in
London a couple of days
during the March break.

dine.had Marion's sister and

after a two weeks vacation in
Florida. Since returning
home, they were but to see

Mrs. Barbara Ritchie of
Lucknow is a patient in
Wingham Hospital having
suffered a stroke. She is well
known in the village, having
worked in the store, where
she met many folks from
here. Everyone extends • t9
her best wishes for a speedy
recovery.

pared by members the prev-
ious week.
Tax Creditsfor people under 65
Each year the Ontario Government returns tax :dollars to residents through the
' Ontario Tax. Credit program. This prograrn is especially designed to provide tax
assistance to Ontario residents between the ages of °16 and 64 inclusive withlow
or moderate incomes. `
This year there is a new credit to claim along with the Property Tax .Credit, Sales
Tax Credit and Political' Contribution Tax Credit. Remember,, to claim these credits
you 'must complete: the mauve Ontario Tax Credit form and Mail it together with
your federal income tax return:
■ The Temporary Home. Heating Credit helps Ontario residents by off -setting
increased home heating costs. This $60 credit is reduced by one percent of your
taxable income
■ The Property Tax Credit reduces the burden of municipal and school taxes.
It is based on your property tax or rent and taxable income.
■ The Sales Tax Credit returns a portion of money paid in provincial retail sales
• tax. It is based on personal exemptions and taxable income.
■ The Political .Contribution Trac CrEditmay be claimed by Ontario residents
who contributed to a registered Ontario .political party, constituency, association
orcandidate in an Ontario provincial election. This claim applies if your -
provincial tax payable is more than your Property and Sales.Tax Credits:

Tax Grants -for people over 65
Ontario Tax Grants for Seniors were designed especially to help:Ontario residents . ' .
65 and over and replace the Ontario Tax Credits program for persons in this age
group.
This yearla Temporary Home Heating Grant of. $60 has been added to the Tax
Grants program.
If you received a 1981 Property Tax Grant and continue to be eligible, you will
receive your I982 interim grant plus your 1981 Temporary Home,Heating Grant
in the late spring:
Nursing home residents or residents of institutions that do not pay property taxes are
ineligible for both the Property Tax Grant and Temporary Home Heating Grant.
They are, however, eligible for the Sales Tax Grant..
