This is the second year in a row that Ripley has won this trophy. Scoring the goals for Ripley were Larry Colling, Paul Keegan, and Terry Irwin. ' The game was played in Wingham starting at one on Sunday afternoon. Reporter Finlay MacLennan said that there was a good crowd of Ripley fans in the Wingham arena for this excellent hockey game. Thirty-two teams, played inthis Wingham midget tour- nament in the different groups from A down. To qualify for the finals the Ripley team • defeated Hensall in their .first game by a, score 9 to 2, This was earlier in the week, Scorers for Ripley were Terry Irwin and Eric van der Glas with. two goals each and singles by Danny MacDonald, Kevin Boyle, Sean Johnson, Paul Keelan and Mike. Nicholson. Then in the semi-finals Ripley defeated. Paisley 7 to. 2. Getting one goal each were Terry Irwin, Eric van der Glass, Danny Smeltzer, Paul Keegan, and Danny MacDonald for five of the seven goals for Ripley. Larry Colling playing defense tallied 2 goals and made 5 assists for 7 .points in this Paisley game. Frank MacLennan was the. goalkeeper in all three games. After the win on Sunday all the players got individual trophies. Beside those mentioned above, they are. Jeff Scott . (con. 4), Gary Rutledge, Paul Harris, Shawn Morrison, Dave Pepper and Bpbby Cameron. Terry Irwin got • the most valuable player trophy. The coaches are Lynn and Brent Armstrong, and the manager is Tom Stevenson, For qualifying for the finals the Blyth team took •home the consolation trophy for 'D group, On Monday night of this week Ripley started the first game for the Western Ontario Athletic Association (WOAA) finals with Elm Logan. This is a best 3 out of 5 games. �Outlaws dose Bervie series The Lucknow Outlaws played 'the third, .game of their five game playoff series against. Bervie Wednesday night, winning 3 - 1 in overtime. The Outlaws knew they had to win this .game to stay in the series and they came.. out to win. They set the fast pace of the game and took shot atter shot on . net but could hot seem tip beat the Bervie goalie. Gerald Cook carried. the ball up to the Bervie end and got a shot away, which was smothered by the Bervie goalie, Wayne McDonagh acted on the rebound and put the shot, into the empty net to tie "the. score 1 - 1. • The ganie was forced into overtime and the teams played five minutes with four men on the ice. Rick Conley. scored two goals giving the Outlaws a 3 - 1 win. The fourthgame of the series was played Sunday. , Despite their efforts, the Outlaws' luck ran out ani, coupled with injuries, a win wasn't possible. The Outlaws had a good f season and are pleased with j their placing, • considering this is only their second season of play. It was a shutout for goalie Clint Murray. After remaining scoreless fer one and a half periods, Lucknow's first goal came from Adrian Helm on a break away at the 6.04 minute of the second period'. p?ad Rhody was credited with the second goal which came in the third period with Donald Cuillerier and Robert Hamilton assisting. • It was their last game of the season and everyone would like to thank them for rjob well done.
