'Expansion of hospital services by building
another addition is the major recommenda-
tion contained in a report prepared by the
Wingham and District Hospital board's long
range 'planning, committee. The. report,
which was submitted'to the board, for study
at its meeting last month, was accepted in
\ principle when the board. met March 24.
The addition to the hospitalis scheduled•
to be builtwithin the next two years and
would provide facilities • for anexpanded
emergency outpatient department and medi-
cal consultant office space, the creation of,a
proper Intensive. Care Unit and Coronary
Care Unit, an expanded radiology depart-
ment, increased space for.the Mental Health
Resource Centre; and space for the Huron
Centre for. Youth and Children.. The new
addition would also permit • space to allow a
physician and .patient to sit down- with a
television set in privacy to make use of the
proposed , tele -health. ' and education .pro-
gram. It would also permit geriatric day and.
chronic care programs to be put in place.
According` to the hospital's executive
director Norman Hayes, the cost of the new
two storey addition will .. be between
51,800,000 and S1,900,Q00 which includes.
the new radiology equipment. .

Hayes pointed out that the •Mental Health
Resource Centre is bursting at the seams in
its quarters and 'could , put on stream such
programs . as an alcoholic• ' .rehabilitation •
.program 'if it -had the space. The Huron
Centre for Youth and Children has been
requesting space for some tinie to provide a
service in Wingham . which parents and
families must now drive to Clintod to obtain

Lucknow senior citizens residing at Sepoy
Apartments received a New Horizon grant in
November of .1978.. The grant was used to
purchase lawn '.furniture, and a set of.
dinnerware and cudery for the cos upon
room at the apartment residence.

A .Lucknow man remains in serious
condition in 'Kitchener - Waterloo Hospital,
following a car accident ..°early. Sunday
morning
Ronald Stanley, 30, of. Lucknow suffered
back injuries in the mishap. Stanley's
brother-in-htw; Ronald Elliott, 21, R. 4
Ripley, who was a. passenger in the car, was
admitted to Louise Marshall. Hospital,
Mount Forest and has. since been released.

slid on an icy patch on the road: The car Left
the road and struck a snow drift in the south
ditch and then rolled over +several :times,
coming to rest on its. roof.
Mount Forest detachment of the Ontario
Provincial Police investigated the'accident
which caused' approximately $4,000., damage'
to the car.
Poor road conditions • on Friday night
contributed to an accident involving Stephen
MacDonald, 22, of Lucknow,'who received
Minor injuries when the car "he was driving
spun, out 'of. control on the'slippery road,
went into the' ' ditch and struck a tree. ,
MacDonald was westbound on Highway
86, • approximately 2 kilometres west of
Huron County' Road; 22, at the time of the
accident..The incident occurred about 7 p.m.

Grossman coming to Wingham
The province's new Health Minister,Larry
Grossman. has accepted an invitation to
officially open the 5500,000 building project
just completed at the Wingham and District
Hospital. Grossman will make his visit to
Wingham June 24 and stay to address the
annual meeting of the hospital corporation in
the evening, •
The project has accommodated the expan-
sion of the hospital's laboratory and physio- ..
therapy unit; the relocation of the rehabilita
tion centre and stroke services' and provides
additional space for the radiology depart-
ment. offices and taff change rooms.
The Ministry of Tfealth contributed some
$318,66610, the project "and municipalities
served by' the hospital have contributed

Hospital board chairman Jack Kopas, told
the hospital board meeting March 24, all

hospital is still negotiating with the ministry
for funding ,for lthe last fiscal year and the
hospital's new fiscal year begins April 1.
Hayes said yet another proposal reiterating
what has been said before to outline the
hospital's . financial situation. has been
endorsed by the .hospital's auditors and is
being submitted. • .
Hayes suggested it may now be necessary
for the hospital board to speak out on behalf

• The Lucknow Fleas ended their season by
picking up their third' tournament trophy
bringing home the Consolation hardware
from the .Teeswater Tyke . Tournament on
Saturday. •
Teeswater took the consolation at the
Lucknow Flea, Tournament earlier this
month and came out determined to win the
championship at their 'own tournament.
Lucknow met them in the first game and
outplayed them through the „first• two
periods. Everything that didn't go wrong all
season happened in the third" period and
Luckno* lost t4 Teeswater 6, - 3 entering the
consolation round of the tournament
Goals were . scored by Dale Priestap,
assisted' by Chris Stevenson and' Justin
Murray; Justin Murray unassisted and Chris

Lucknow found no trouble in persuing the
