terian church. Particularly pleasant it

clasp of the band with which the lat-
ter minister greeted his brother, now
the pastor of the North street charge.

en by Rev. J. H. Stainton, of Jame,

Stainton congratulated the congrega-
tion on their cboice of a pastor, and the

his remarks on Paul's words, "Eye

(Prov. 14:34).

meeting in the church last Frldal
evening, with Kathleen Williams pre-
siding. The meeting opened wltb a

Rutledge gave the devotional topic. A
trio was given by *Velma, Hilda and
Carl Finnigan and was much appre-

Helen McPhee was appointed to suc-

Christian fellowship department. A
contest was enjoyed and the meeting

passed away on Tuesday, June 29. a
respected and moat esteemed resident
of this community. in the person of
Mr. Samuel Shepperd. Deceased had
been to tailing health for leveret
years. He had spent his whole life on
the same farm, with the exception of
a few years .pent on his farm north
of Nile. He was an ever teethfnl
chart* worker, being secretary of the
trustee board of Nile church for over
forty years. librarian of the Sunday
school for fifty years, and a member
of the choir ler a number of years.

China, owing to the serious illness of

friends in town Saturday, Faye The
Exeter Times -Advocate. They were on
their way to visit to Dungannon, Mr.
Walker's former ctrarge. Mr Walker
stated that he has appreciated the
many inquiries and sympathy extended
doling the time that DOpald and Mrs.
Walker had been 111 had been
a patient at the Pepiag Medical Col-
lege for about tour Bloom and had
undergone two operations for a sus-
pected brain tumor which the doc-
tors
ortors were unable to locate. Ile was
afterwards given a deep X-ray radia-
tion to destrny'•tlre tumor. At the pre-
sent time there seems to be no evi-
dence of the return of the ,ymptoms
and his general health is gaining and
we are pleaFed to state that his ease
is more hopeful. It le interesting to
ogle that these very critical opera-
tions were performed by a Chinese
surgeon. Dr. T. Kwan, and required
wonderful skill and pre, Mrs. Walker
also spent about seden week• in the
same hospital under medical rare. She
Is steadily regaining her- jrealth and
with a short rest should regain her
normal condition. The family left
China on April 12th and are at present
making their headquarters In Toronto.
They expect to 'pend the summer in
the Muskoka district. Dena id, 'aged
thirteen, is not under active medical
treatment at present hot U under ob-
servation. The two other ebildren are
Edith, aged eight. and Mary Ruth,
aged five.

AHMEEK'S BRIDGE TEA
On Thnrwlap afternoon last a de-
lightful brklge-tee, sponsored by Aa
meek Chapter, 1 O.D.E., was held on
the beautiful grounds at the home of
Judge and Mr'. T. -M, -Castello. An
ideal day pro•ented itself for the oc-
casion, and a very enjoyable after
noon was spent by the guests In the
shade of the spreading trees on the
lawns. The guests were received by
Mrs. D. J. lane, regent of the Chap
ter. and escorted to the bridge tables
which were placed in the many shady
'spots. The winners at bridge were
Mrs. W. Tebbutt and Mrs. Evans.
