Kairshea institute hold curator's meeting
The Kinloss Kairshea,
Women's Institute held their
Curator meeting at the home
of Mrs. Harvey Houston on
Thursday, February 18 at
1.30. p,rn.
Mrs. Leonard. Clarke, first
vice-president, opened the
meeting with a reading. Mrs.
Donald . Maclintyre, secret-
ary -treasurer, read the min -
ides and correspondence.
A committee of Mrs. Evan
Keith, Mrs.. Virden Mowbray
and -Mrs. Hank Hartemink
was named to look after the
display to be set up at the
Lucknow. Fall , .,Fair. Mrs.
Clarence Ritchie was ap-
pointed delegate to the Offic-
er's Conference in Waterloo
in May'. Mrs. Ira Dickie is to
be the • alternate.
Mrs. Gordon Wall report-
ed on the Pinecrest Birthday
Party held February 9th.
There was a good attendance
of both residents and Kair-
shea members, and a. good
program of sing -a -tongs, sol-
os, bagpipe and old-time
music, was enjoyed by a11.
It was reported that there
are seven girls taking the 4-H
course, 'Bread Winners"..
The leaders are Doreen Mali,
and Linda VanderKlippe,
Kairshea is invited to the
Lucknow Junior Women's In-
stitute's April meeting.
Get well cards were signed
by the group for Mrs. Jim
Burt and Mrs. Bob Gilchrist.
The members hope they are
soon able to be out to their
meetings.
Mrs. Harvey •Houston,
Curator, was ;chairlady for
the program. ' She ` read a
poem, "Grandson's New
Shoes", and led in the sing-
songs throughout the pro-
gram.
Mrs. Cliff Roulston gave
an interesting and • informa-
tive talk on the history of
quilting, and showed samp-
les of different kinds.
The current events were
given ' by Mrs, Leonard
Clarke. Standing committee
reports were given by the
different conveners.
The resolution, re "the
poor lighting at highway int-
ersections'', . was read by
Mrs. Frank MacKenzie, in
the absence of the resolu-
tions convener, Mrs. Bill
Haldenby. It was discussed,
and after improvements are
made, it will be sent on to the.
District level.
Mrs. Cliff Roulston; con-

World Affairs, asked ques-
tions on Citizenship.
The roll call, How many
families have lived in your
house, name them, was
answered by the members
and visitors. A written roll
call, "What you've been.
doing in the last ` 15: years?
was also handed in ,to the
Curator for the Tweedsmuir
History. Book. `.
'Mrs. Clarence Ritchie
gave the courtesies. A delic-
ious lunch was served by the
directors, Mrs. Leonard
Maclnnes, and Mrs. Donald
MacKinnon filling in for
Mrs. Jim, Burt, who was
unable to be there. The
Scrapbooks and Tweedsmuir
History books were on dis-
play for everyone to view.
Attend Nile United annual meeting
The 1981 Nile annual con-
gregational meeting was
held in the basement of the
Nile United Church on
Thursday, February 11, 1982.
at 8 p.m.
The meeting was opened
with scripture and prayer by
Mr. George Cowan; minist-
er.

Morning Mothers meet at elementary school
The February meeting of
the Lucknow Morning Moth-
ers was ,held on February 10
at the Lucknow Public
School. Activities began with
mothers having an open dis-
cussion, while the children
grade eight students.

suggestions for future meet-
