Madill French students travel to Ouebec City

Grade 11 students at F. E.
Madill Secondary, Wing-
ham,
ingham, who are studying
French, are taking ' a trip to
Quebec City:, leaving Thurs-
day and returning Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Emer-
son, Darlene, Sharon and
Brenda of St. Catharines
spent the weekend with Mr.
and Mrs. Victor Emerson,
Mr. and Mrs. Ron Nichol-
son, Ryan and Erin of Strath-
roy spent the weekend with
her parents, Mr. and. Mrs.
John de Boer.

Hereford Farm Show on
Thursday; Leroy Rintoul was
there with Mr. Kilmorlie's
Herefords of. Bradford.

Thesday
Walter Roulston of the
Second Concession in Huron
Township died in St.
Joseph's Hospital in London
on. Tuesday of last week,
'February 2, 1982. He had
been transferred there prior
to Christmas , from . Kin-
cardine and • District
Hospital.
In charge of the . funeral
and committal services at
eleven last Friday morning
Feb. 5 at the 'MacKenzie
McCreath Funeral Home in
Ripley was Rev. Jim Bushell
of St. Andrew's United -
Church in Ripley. Spring
interment will be in. Ripley
Cemetery. •
Walter Roulston was born
in Huron Township on
Saturday, March 28,1896 and
was the last surviving.
member of a family of eight
whose parents were John-
ston Roulston. and ' Mary
Helm. The family farm on
the Second Concession is
located about 100 rods west
of the Olivet Churchcorner,
three blocks south of Ripley.
He was predeceased by his
wife Catherine MacDougall.
Surviving are his son
Gordon on the home.farm at
Olivet and his daughter,
Mary, Mrs. Robert Orr of the
South Line west in Kin-
cardine Township and her
children Dale and Donna Lee
Orr. Sympathy is extended
to them . at this time of,
bereavement.
Homfrom hospital
Ripley area folks were
glad to learn that Mrs.
Mildred Johnson was able to
return home last Wednesday
to be with her husband
Redvers. Mrs. Johnson was
a patient in Kincardine
Hospital fora week.
In hospital
Critically ill for some time
now, ' Ernie Wylds of the
Sixth Concession west in
Huron Township is now a
patient in Kincardine and
District Hospital.

On Wednesday Misi Faye
Irwin completed her exams
on the course .Business and
Administration . at Lougheed
College, Kitchener. The
community wishes Faye suc-
cess in the exams.
Chalmers Annual Meeting
Chalmers Presbyterian
Church annual meeting was
held Friday afternoon, Feb-
ruary 5 with Rev. John Bell
presiding. Chairman was El-
roy Laidlaw and secretary
Fred de Boer. Retiring man-
agers are Archie Purdon,
Barry Elliott and William
Young. Newly . appointed
were Walter. Elliott, . David
Moffat and Elroy. Laidlaw.
The C.O.C. held meetings
April to December in the
Sunday School room during
church services with leaders
Mrs. Alex Craig and Mrs.
Gary Rintoul and a member- service at the United. Church
with Mrs, Bell as. speaker.
Gipackages of cookies were
giv n to residents, at Pine -
c t Manor. Get well, cheer,
baby congratulations, birth-
day, sympathy and Christ-
mas cards were mailed.
The financial report, aud-
ited by Jean , Young and
Kathleen Gibson, showed a
balance for 1981. The audit-
ors were reappointed,
Rev. Bell closed the meet-
ing with prayer. Coffee and
cookies were served.
Whitechurch U.C.W.
The Whitechurch United
Church Women held their
meeting on Wednesday,
February '3 at Mrs. Russel
Chapman's home. Mrs. Clif-
ford Laidlaw opened the
meeting with a reading on
Faith.
Mrs, Sleightholm read the
scripture and led in prayer.
Mrs. Laidlaw gave the
ship • of 10,
The Young Peoples spon-
sor _ a foster child. The
Sunday School had a success-
ful year with Mrs. Don Ross
superintendent and three ac-
tive classes. They also held a
Christmas concert.
The session reported 100
on roll as of December 31,
1981.. Members of session
include Elroy Laidlaw, John
de Boer, Dave Moffat, Wal-
ter Elliott, clerk; Archie
Purdon, Donald Ross and,
Rev. John Bell, minister.
The Ladies Aid had a suc-
cessful year taking part in
the craft show and closing
with a bank balance. -
The W.M.S. held 10 meet-
ings. There were ten active
members and 16 associate
members with. two active
members having perfect at-
tendance. They took part in
the World Day of Prayer
story from Peter Marshal's
Book, Keeper of the Spring.
Six answered the roll call
with a Bible verse with the
word heart. Mrs. Chapman
read the minutes. The collec-
'don and loose coin was
received. Mrs. Laidlaw
thanked the hostess and
closed the meeting with
prayer.
Whitechurch 4-$
Whitechurch 4-H club met
on Saturday, February 6 at
Mrs. Purdon's home with
seven members present. The
president, Janet Laidlaw op-
ened the meeting and mem-
bers answered the roll call by
stating a method of providing
a warm place for dough to
rise.
