Langside snowmobilers attend Timmy snowarama
By OHM s
- ' . In spite of the severe cold
this winter, we saw our fast
crape on Thursdayafternoon,
February 4. As this is the
first sign of spring, it is nice
to see them back.
The Billy Watson snowar
ama for Timmy was held last
Sunday, January 31. Joining
in it from this district were
Marty Young and Robert and
Christine Bregman. The
weather was not bad when
they started but the snow
storm in the afternoon made
difficult going on the road
home. Robert and Christine
stayed overnight in Wing-
bam with friends and arrived
home Monday morning:,
Marty Young made it home
Sunday evening. All three
had a few frozen • spots . on
their faces but enjoyed the
trip.
There is no doubt the
groundhog would see his
shadow on February 2,
Groundhog Day, . if he was
able todig. his way through '
the snow.. But we will prob-
ably have six more weeks of
winter 'either way:
Robert Bregman spent the
weekend with relatives .in
Collingwood.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald. Scott
and son returned from. Hol-
land after a two week visit
with relatives there.
Wesley Young of Luc now
visited with Mr. and Mrs.
Elmer Scott on Saturday,.
Mr. and Mrs. o Russell
Young, Ken Young and
Russell Springer visited. Sat-
urday evening with Mr. and
Mrs. Clifford Young.
Stormy weekends thisyear
have so far made it difficult
to get news to the paper in
timeto get it printed. Maybe
this week the new will get in
on time.
[Intended for last week]
Mrs. Wesley Young of
L icknow, formerly of Lang-
side, received word of the
death of her cousin, Mrs..
John. Reid of Kincardine: She
was in her .61st year,
Mr. and Mrs. Dave
Springer of Whitechurch vis-
ited recently with Mr. and
Mrs. Jim Springer..
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Breg-
mao spent a few days up,,
north at Kapuskasing.; They
found the weather cold and.
one day, with the wind
factor, the temperature was.
-85. They stopped • at Orillia
on the way home and spent a
night with Agnes' brother
and his :family, arriving home
the next day.
Visitors lately with Mr.
and Mrs. lan Thomas and
boys were Ian's brother,
Brian, his girl friend, Anjo
and Baan Thomas who spent
the weekend there and the
same Saturday Mr. and Mrs.
Malli and young son visited
there also.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Springer
had a phone call from their
son, Les, who is • with the
armed forces. He called from'.
Newfoundland where the
ship he is on is patrolling the
fishing waters..
Mr.. and Mrs. Ron George
of Ailsa Craig called' on Mr
and Mrs. afford Young on
Saturday.

now spent the weekend with
her cousins, Karen and. Liane
Young.
The Presbyterian Church
in Whitechurch held .their
regular service Sunday fore-
noon, after cancelling it the
last three Sundays because
of stormy . weather.
A farewell party was held
in the Holyrood Hall• on
Saturday evening for Mr,
and Mrs. Rick Jones and
family, who areplanning to
move to Thunder Bay. About.
60 people were present.
Ten tables of euchre were
played with .high . and low,
prizes for the winners.
Mr. and Mrs. Jones were
them called to the platform
and an address was read by
John Ackert. Dave and Ross
Moffat presented them with,
a blanket and a mirror and
some money.
They both thanked those
who planned the party and
all who came and hoped if
any were near Thunder Bay,
they would be sure' to visit
them. A delicious lunch was
then served and a short
social time enjoyed.
