Lucknow UC W units attend leadership workshop

Unit 1 .
The • afternoon • units of
,Lucknow U.C.W. met in -the
church parlor February 2' for
their regular meeting. Mrs..
Glen Walden welcomed the
ladies, Representatives from
each of the units were in
charge of the meeting and
lunch,
Mrs. R. Shiells introduced
the theme, Love, saying it is
very . important . to have ,a.
thought to take home and
think about after a U.C.W.
meeting.

Mrs.R. Shiells presented
many thoughts on Love as
Jesus lived it. She said we
only have one life to live .and
now is the time to start living
it with lave in 'our hearts.
According to. Paul; Love is
the ,supreme gift. Love
means action and she stated,
as the study was on Faith and
Justice, . we need to have
more ; Faith and Love for all
our fellow men and a more
just society will follow.

Mrs. M. Loth, led in
prayer,. -Mrs. S. deBoer sang
a very pleasing solo, 0 Love
that Will not Let Me Go..
Mrs. Shiells brought this
part of the meeting to a close
with the message, Let us not
Love with word and thought,
but in deeds and actions..
Mrs. G. Walden then con-
ducted a Leadership Work-
shop. She called on the
members of the executive to
explain the duties of their
. office, The chairperson of the
divisions all spoke on the
duties for which they are
responsible. This was infor-
• mative and educational.
The meeting closed with
Mrs. H. Webster at the piano
and the group singing three
popular songs with love in
the title. '
Grace ,was sung and lunch
served by the committee.
After this each unit met for
short business period.
Unit 2
Unit 2 of Lucknow U.C.W.
met in the choir room of the
church on February 2. ' The
unit leader, Mrs. S. Mac-
Gillivray, opened with an
inspirational poem. •
The roll was responded to
by 15 members paying fees.
• , The programs and special
project bells were handed
out. Mrs. G. Morrison re-
ported on social functions.
Mrs. G Kirkland reported
for friendship and cards were
signed for two members who
were unable to be out.
Mrs. Wm. Campbell re-
ported for supply. She • will
require some ladies to quilt
as the quilt supply is low.
Two quilts have recently
been given to families who
had bad fires. There was a
request received for soap
from Presbyterial, so in April
the ladies were asked to
bring a bar of soap.
Mrs. S. MacGillivray dos-
ed the meeting with prayer.
Unit 3
Unit 3 of the Lucknow
U.C.W. meet in one of the
Sunday School rooms at the
church February 2. Mrs. Cliff
Menary, the leader, opened
the meeting with a welcome
to all present and wished
success to the new executive
in the next two years.
Thirteen members an-
swered the roll call with a
bible verse on love and pay-
ment of fees. •
It was decided to have a
birthday jar at each meeting
with each person contribut-
ing Sc per .person to match:
the number of birthdays.
A paper was circulated for
signatures for Peace from the
women of Canada • t� end
production of nuclear weap-
ons. The list of signatures of
women, originated in Febru-
ary, 1980 in Denmark.
The unit is responsible for
church flowers Jai uary, May
and October.

will be the speaker at the
general meeting on February
16 Members of the unit will
attend the World's Day of
Prayer in Kinloss Church on
March 5. Mrs. Charles Mac-
Donald reported on the cat-
ering done at the Agricultur-
al Society banquet.
Each member was asked to
bring a get well card to the
next meeting to assist the
Friendship Committee.
Mrs. Menary closed this
business meeting : with a
prayer.
Unit 4
Unit 4 of Lucknow United
Church Women met for their
monthly meeting on Tues-
day, February 2, with an
attendance of 27.
The theme of the meeting
was Love. Mrs. Gordon
Johnstone conducted the de
votions, opening with a read-
ing followed by scripture.
She was assisted by her
committee, Mrs. Leonard
Ritchie taking the medita-
tion-, Mrs. Ivan Conleythe
prayer, and Mrs. Gordon
Brooks, who gave a reading
on, Love and Valentines.
Mrs. Glen Walden: con-
ducted a leadership work- '
shop. Each officer compris-
ing the Lucknow United
Church Women's Group was
presented and each in turn'
explained,the duties required
of their office.
Mrs. Bill Bogues, leader of
Unit 4, took the chair for the
business and reports. The
roll call was answered with a
verseon Love.
A social time' followed the
close of business.
