ton attended the funeral of
their uncle, the late Mr. Jack.

We are pleased to report
that Mrs. Hazel Pardon of
Lucknow, a former resident
of this vicinity, was able to
return home on Friday after a
lengthy stay in Wingham.

passing of Mr. Koyle. 'last
week. Mr. and Mrs. Bloss
Boyle and family resided for
a time on the farm at Lang-
side,•owned by Mr. and Mrs.

here enjoyed a holiday on
Monday but the public school
bus from Lucknow arrived to

to hospital curing storm

During the blizzard Janu-
ary 10 it was necessary to
hospitalize two St Helens
residents. Angela McDon-
ald, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Apar McDonald and
Mrs. Lori Pegg were trans-
ported to the WIngham and
District Hospital : With ' the
assistant of the Department
of Highways and West: Wa-
wanosh . Road. Superintend -
ant, - George Humphrey. It
`took several hours ' for the
ambulance to make the trip
to and from the hospital
during the blizzard. Mrs.
Pegg has since been trans-
ferred to Hamilton hospital
while awaiting the arrival of
their new baby. Get well
wishes go out to them.

Toronto on the weekend t�
pick up his brother, Murray.
. who is returning from a tour
of Jurope. He also. visited
with his sister and husband,
Mr. and Mrs: Jeff Croskill of
Listowel.

Institute catered to a birth-
day supper for Sadie Barbour
on the occasion of her 75th
birthday at St. Helens Hall
on January 9th. Those at-

which should be very good
hockey. Lucknow won lover
Ripley the last time the two
teams played , for Ripley's
first loss of the season.
Monkton will be here Satur- -
day afternoon at 4 p.m.
Name top candy sellers
in fund raising project

Students of RDS secon-
dary school returned to the
daily grind of school as of
Mon. Jan. 4.
Fund Raising Winners
The top sellers of the
school's fundraising project,
which was selling candy,
were, for the puble school,
Greg Dahmer . (first) and
Clinton ' Twolen . (second).
Angela Stewart was the top
seller for the secondary
students and Denise Watson
was second. The class that
' sold the most was Ms.
McGonage1 s grade seven
class. They will receive a
pizza dinner for their efforts.
Girls Volleyball . .. Swimming Program
On Tues., Jan. 5, Mr.
Coultes took the senior. and
junior girls volleyball teams
to Sacred Heart secondary
school in Walkerton. They
competed. 'against Wiarton
and Sacred Heart. ' The
senior team won both games
against Sacred Heart and
lost two squeakers to Wiar-
ton.
The junior girls lost both
games to Wiarton and won
one and lost one game
against Sacred Heart. Good
effort girls.
On Wed. Jan. 13 the senior
girls team went °to Kincar-
dine and they won 4 out of 5
games. That's the way to do
it girls! ..
Mr. Brown's grade 9 and
10 gym classes starta swim-
ming program Mon. Jan. 18
and it will end Fri. Jan. 22. .
Ski Trip to Talisman
The grades • 9 and 10 gym
classes went on a downhill
skiing trip to Talisman on
Fri., Jan. 8.
School Sweatshirts
The school has ordered
sweatshirts and they should
be in some time soon.
Drinldng and Driving
On Mon. Jan. 18 an O.P.P.
officer was here to taut to the
secondary classes about
drinking and driving. There
was a discussion on the pro-
blems and misusessif alcohol
afterwards..
