Farmer of the Year Award
for 1911. Ken is the grandson
of Mrs. Donald* Gossell in
Ripley. His mother is the
former Laic Gosse&; On

evening she told us that she
and Don are now retired. in
Kincardine and son Ken is
now running the family farm
north of Kincardine. Lois
attended the . R.C.S. from.
September 1942 to June1947,

(Allan) Mcarades, ' Susan,
Karen and Gregg onSunday,

Next day, December .31.,
Mr. and Mrs.Mcch. es and
Mr. and Mrs. Russell flew
Man Toronto airport ' to
Phoenix. There they booked
into the . Howard , Johnson
Caravan 'Hotel. From
Phoenix they made a
number of bus tours; One
was a trip to Merica and to
11iscon. At Tuseon they had
a telephone visit with
Merles McDonagh, former
native of Lucknow and.
brother of Bary and Rod
McDonagh of Lucknow.
Qiarles McDonagh now lives
in'Fuscon.
Then they also hada tour
to Oak Cre&Canyon north
of Tuscon -: a Wutifit place
to visit. By windingturns the.
bus carried them down over
six thousand feet into the
Canyon and it was a real
exciting experience. On the
way to the Canyon they went;
through ai real ghost town -
an abandoned _mining
village.
On , another tour ort of
Phoenix they went to South

Mowbray of Lucknow who
have a , home in Mesa,
Arizona and live there in the
winter, Mso Raynard and
Hilda Ackert of Lucknow
picked them op and took
thein to their hoarse. in Mesa
for dlinnier.. Raynard and
Hilda also have a whiter
home in. Mesa..So the whole
group had dinner with
Margaret : and Virdin
Mowbray the day before.

McQiarles had a great time
recalling their days at the
Ripley Continuation School..
Myrtle and Marie McLean,
daughters of the late Mr. and
Mrs. John Mclean, 'live:d. on
Railway Street in Ripley in
the , house . where Mrs.
Charlotte. MacDonald . now
lives. : They too winter in
Mesa• ,

high over the mountain. The
weather was delightful. One

On the return trip home
Mr, and Mrs.. Russel .and
Mr. and Mrs. McC ail s
again spent the night with
Mrs, Jean Mctbarles and
children Susan, Karen and
Gregg before *lob* back to
Kincardine. Our thanks goes
to Marion for this report and
it was nice to know' that the
ladies• recalled their days at
the R.C.S. and also that they
read this column of news out
in Arizona.
