Plans for implementation of Bill 82 on special educa- tion were being completed by both Huron and Bruce Coun- ty Boards of Education. Established committees held.. meetings for the purpose of determining the needs of special education in Huron County and in-service train- ing of teachers and principals was underway. Implementa- tion in Huron County will be. completed by May 1, 1982. Bruce County Board of Education isalso working to meet the May deadline and approved , the release of staff who are .trained in special education from regular dut- ies during the 1981-82 school year, to allow .them to assist in meeting the requirements` of Bill 82. The board agreed to pay the cost of supply teachers and the necessary •- travel expenses . resulting from such released from duties. Huron County planner Gary Davidson commented that Ashfield` Township was, no longer the finest choice for the province's toxic waste disposal site,` following the announcement that the South Cayuga site had been turned down. Davidson said he had contacted the regional plan- ning director in Haldimand- Norfolk where South Cayuga is located, and was assured that the .crown, corporation appointed by the province to run the site was not _going to use. the MacLaren report, which `. designated Ashfield .Township,` as . the most suitable location in the province as a criteria.
