Former Kingsbridge area mart has
kidney transplant operation
Eugene Austin, son of
John Austin of Ashfield;
underwent a kidney trans-
plant operation in a Calgary
Hospital on Tuesday even-
ing, October 20th.
John received word of the
operation from another son,
• Ralph, also of Calgary, only
after the surgery was in
progress. Eugene was called
to the hospital only that
morning.
He was able to call home
on Sunday afternoon and
reported that he is progress-
ing satisfactorily and the
doctors are pleased with his
condition so far.
• He will be in the hospital
in isolation for about four
weeks. Eugene had been re-
ceiving Dialysis Treatments
for some months.
A girl who also underwent
a kidney transplant at the
•same time as Eugene is also
in satisfactory condition in
• the same hospital.
Our prayers and best
wishes go to Eugene for his
continued recovery.

St. Joseph's Catholic
Women's League, hosted a
• pot luck supper on Wed-
nesday evening, October 21,
in the Parish Hall, on the
occasion of their 60th anni-
versary as a League in the
•
•London Diocesan Council.
Joining in the occasion
were members of St. Mary's
C.VV.L., Lucknow; St. Aug-
ustine C.W.L., St. August-
ine; St. Peter's C.W.L.,
Goderich; as . well as hus-
bands and friends of the
Parish.
Following supper, the
Kingsbridge president, Mrs.
Clarice Dalton introduced the
head table guests, Brother
Carl Vol]; Mrs. Margaret
Glavin, St. Augistine presid-
ent; Mrs. Gertrude Leddy,
representing \ St. Mary's,
Lucknow; Pat Phillips, a
Seminarian of St. Peter's.
Seminary, London; Father
Ed Dentinger, who also
introduced the special guest
speaker, Father M. Prieur of
London. Father Prieur has
been active in the past in
promoting the program,
Good News for Married
Love, and he is a teacher at
the Seminary.
Father Prieur's talk was
titled, The Lay Person in The
Church. To -day. He went on
to explain that a Parish is a
community of the church,
withthe peciple and the
Priest administering to 'each
other's needs, such as the lay
person, working with Pro -
Life, Marriage Encounter
groups, visiting the sick,
teaching Religion; etc.
• Being a Christian is based
on five good points: 1.
Always keep our eyes on Our
Lord, remember He is 'our
model; 2. Christian Morality,
• always have respect for
individuals within the com-
munity; 3, Christianity Call
to be - Counter - Cultural,
remember good things
people do are made complete
by things they refuse to do;
4. Our Hallmark of Faith is
compassion and truth; 5. Our
call is sustained in the Oil of
Gladness by the Holy Spirit
through prayer.

tations were made.

to Mrs. Mary Hogan on the
• special occation a being a 60
year member of the Catholic
Women's League.• -

on Tuesday evening, October
21 at the home of Bessie
•McNee. Eleven members
and one visitor answered roll
call which was to name one's
favourite woman of the
Bible.
Bessie McNee and Donna
• Young were, in charge of the
devotional which • included
reading of Psalms and a
reading about Mary Magda-
• lene.
• Mary Bere played the
organ for the hymns, For the
Beauty of the Earth, and,
Now Thank We Ali Our God.
• Bessie McNee chaired the
business meeting and read
the treasurer's report pre-
pared by Helen Dawson who
was absent. Tinie Logten-
berg red the minutes of the
last meeting.
Elsie Irvin gave a report on
the Fall Rally, which was
attended by four members of
the Dungannon U.C.W. It's
theme was Caring and Shar-
ing:
• A motion was approved
to help the local C.G.I.T.
with a donation to get started
and to find more information
on request for aid from
Provincial C.G.I.T.
Bessie McNee showed the
quilt top she had sewn
together from pieces donated
and a motion was made to
buy material for the lining. It
was suggested that someone
might wish to: donate a flan-
elette sheet for a lining. A
donation to the John Milton 1
Society for helping the spirit-
ual needs of the blind was
approved.
Mr. Cowan gave a , report
on the Lay School Of Theol-
ogy in Clinton and encour-
aged more to attend. He
closed the meeting with
prayer. Lunch was served by
Donna Alton and Doris Hod-
ges.

ended our chocolate bar and
Milo sales. We would like to
thank the people for particip-
ating in this event and would
ask all students who owe
money to bring it into us.
In our Cross Canada run,
tabulated Friday. October
16, we had reached Thunder
Bay.
On Monday, October 26
room 7 and 8 are going to see
a concert .in Blyth. This is a
musical concert starring Jan
Rubes.
John ' Mackenzie and
Wayne Hos' soccer teams are
•in the school playoffs.

• Hodgkinson of Wingham
were dinner guests with Mr.
and Mrs. Herb Buckton on

fax, Nova Scotia, Mr. and
Wayne's team is leading one
game to none and the junior
finals have just started.
On Friday. October 16,
Mrs. Graham and Mrs. Teb-
butt's rooms went for a tour
of the area in which the
students live. This is to help
educate the children in their
geography studies. Then
they went to Jason Camer-
on's to see their pigs and
sheep.
Mr. Jewitt and Mrs. Bere
attended a Special Education
meeting at the Administra-
tion Centre, Clinton on Fri-
day afternoon at which the
speaker was' Dr. Don Meich-
enbaum, Doctor of Psychol-
ogy at the University of
Waterloo.
