West Wawanosh Town-
ship Council met for its
regular session on Tuesday,'
October 6, 1981 in the office.
of the Municipal Garage. All
members were in attendance
- Reeve Durnin presided.
The minutes of the regular
September meeting and a
special session on September
10, 1981 were adopted as
printed. on motion of Coun-
cillors Cranston and Brind-
ley.•
The Board of Trustees
from Auburn attended the
Council meeting to request
Council's co-operation in
leasing the Auburn Fire Hall
for a perio3 of 20 years to
take advantage of a 25%
Community Recreation Cen-
tres grant to assist the Trus-
tees in the renovation of the
hall as a Community Hall.
Council agreed to do this,
and to pass a by-law desig-
nating the Fire Hall as a
Community Hall.
Charles Pergel presented a
second application to Council
for a building permit to es-
tablish a trailer as a resid-
ence in St. Helens. Council
agreed to deal with the
application along with others
already scheduled on the
agenda.
Gerry Poalin acted as
spokesman for a cl5putatimi
frinff Dungannon consisting
o f three Kinsmen and two
O Senior Citizens. He asked -
Countil to appoint two
people to sit on a Board of
eight (2 from Kinsmen, 2
from Sr. Citizens, 2 from
West Wawanosh and 2 from
Ashfield) to be formed to
° investigate -the establish-
ment of a Drop -In Centre for
Seniors in Dungannon.
Council questioned Mr. poal,
in regarding their plans, and
agreed to comply with the
request for two board mem-
bers.
Harold (Bud) Glenn asked
Council to write a letter to
the owner's of the old dam in
the Maitland River south of
iAuburn, although he was
unaware of the identity of the
owner/s. He wished Council
to express support in his
efforts to have the ruins of
the old dam reinoved. Coun-
cil contended the dam is not
•in West Wawanosh and
therefore none of their con-
cern. •

Council discussed the lane -
slay, which had been con-
sfructed by Chas. Pergel
without permission, with the
'Road Superintendent. The
Road Superintendent stated
• that the laneway as it is now
is too narrow and must be
widened if it• is to remain
there.
