Also at the Match were Don Forster, Don Thompson, Doug Tout, and Dick McCosh. Mrs. Jean Barnes of Cleo, Michigan, hasreturned. home after spending a cou- pleof weeksvisiting with old friends and neighbours. Mr. and Mrs.. Don Reid at- tended the CollidsSloetjes wedding in Ashfield Presbyterian Church on Sat. Robert Scott spent Sunday with; Larry Reid. Mr. and Mrs. Norval Stanley visited with Mrs. Alice Blueand M yrs.. Jessie Peter, Wiarton, on Saturday. Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Howard` Thompson,. were Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Burnette and Mrs. Kay Col- lins. On Sat. evening, Mr. and. Mrs. Cecil Sutton entertain- ed nterstain ed the field advisors of Men for Missions, as well as the Berview members and their wives. Earlier on Saturday, Wilma, took the ladies on a tour of local points of in- terest. Sunday visitors with the Sutton were Mr. and Mrs. Ken Watson, Cambridge, Mr. and Mrs.: Wiles. King, Martha 'and Keith, Mrs. W. Hodgins, Wingham, and. Mrs, G. King, Bervie.. Sat visitors with Mrs. Fran Farrell were Karen Orme and Maty Goldrick, Orangeville. Mr. and Mrs. Bev'• Cliff, Lurgan, visited with Jim and Fran Farrell on Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Jake ,Rim- melzwaan and Jim, Bel- mont, visited from Mon. to Wed. with Mr. and Mrs. John Rimmelzwaan. On Tues., the Rimmelzwaan's all attended the Plowing Match. Mrs. Katherine Collins, Mrs. Marion Emerson and Bob, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Patterson, Mrs. . Sandra 1V,tcGillvary.., and Mrs. Margie L c head attended the funeral of their . aunt, Mrs. Sam Wisner, in Kit- chener on Sat. Mr. and Mrs, Morley Scott and Mrs. Catherine 'Scott visited Mrs. Marion Martin in West Montrose, Sunday. Thirty-five ladies. , and gentlemen: from the area en- joyed a bus tour to Waterloo County on Thurs. Highlights of the tour were: a stop at Yarns of Tralee, Brox's Olde Town Village, a delicious lunch at the Stone Crock,.. Elmira, the Borg factory, a tour of the Mennonite coun- tryside with an experienced guide giving a commentary,, and finally, a stop at the Con- ' estoga Mallfor shopping. Kackleberry Kooks elect executive By Susan Meyer •9 The first meeting of the Holyrood 441 club project, Which came First, the Chick- en or the Egg? was held on September 14 at the home of Mrs. Barb Gingrich. The election of the officers were as :follows: president Lea - Anne Haldenby, nominated by Susan Meyer; vice pres- ident, Tony Gingrich, volun- teered; secretary, Donna Reaman, nominated, by Hea- ther Smith, and press report- ers Susan Meyer, Heather Smith, and Andrew, Meyer, volunteered: The leaders are Mrs. Barb Gingrich and Mrs. Joy Ackert. The roll call was answered and the group talked about making the grade and good handling practices of hens and chickens. Next the lead- ers explained what knives to use for .what and how to sharpen ' them. Then the 'whole group .participated in cutting up a whole chicken, followed by a . talk about packaging for the freezer and tips on thawing. ` The secondmeeting of the Holyrood 4-H ,c1Ub was held .. on September 28 at the home of Mrs. Barb Gingrich. The meeting opened with, the reading of the minutes by Donna . Reiman. the roll call. was answered and everyone voted on a name for the club. They decided on "The Kack- leberry Kooks". ' The club then talked about making chicken stock, freez- ing stock, principles of cook- ing chicken, and moist and dry heat methods of cooking. Next they did a quiz called, Pick -A -Chicken Match -Up. They talked about rendering chicken fat and did a, Hen Party Quiz. The leaders demonstrated how, to make chicken with a Chinese Accent and Niagara Nice 'N Spicy Chicken. While the chicken- was cooking, the group talked about home activities. When the dishes were, prepared, everyone tested the delicious chicken. Try cheese souffle By Margaret McWidnney Meetings three and four of the Dungannon 1 4-11 club were held at the home of their. leader, Sharon,Pengally on September 17. The members discussed how eggs tell your fortune and the difference between fresh and stale eggs. The girls were divied into groups • to make a salad, =eggonomical quiche and "Top Hat" cheese souffle... While the quiche and souf- fle were cooking, the mem-. bers discussed separating. egg whites and yolks and how to use the leftover whites and yolks.
