There was a lovely shower
last 'Friday - evening for
Janice Collins in the Ashfield
Presbyterian Church base-
ment. 'Janice received many
lovely presents, for these she
thanked the ladies very fit-
tingly, and all the work that
was put into it: A lovely
lunch was then served by the
ladies of the community.
Sincere sympathy to Mr.
and Mrs. , Lorne Luther on
the passing away .of Lorne's
sister Mrs. Bud Campbell in
Florida last weekend. Mrs.
Campbell had a lengthy i1-
lness, was buried in Florida..
last Wednesday,
Mrs. Stella Irwin and son
Lloyd of\ Kinloss visited on
Thursday with daughter,
sister and son-in-law Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Wilkens.
Mrs. Marjorie Cleft of
Mississauga . has . been
visiting with her daughter
and son-in-law Dr. and . Mrs.
Russell,Moncrief for a week
or so.

Scotland.

Lucknow UCW holds
fall generainieeting
The fall general meeting of
the U.C.W. was held in the
fellowship room . on
September 24. Mrs. Finlay,
the president, opened the
meeting with a poem entitl-
ed, If You Stand Very Still by
Patience Strong.
Mrs. Evelyn Cook took
charge and expressed some
thoughts on the Nurture of
Christian Development. The
scripture and the meditation
was given by Mrs. Phyllis
Morrison.
An interesting paper,
Christian Stewardship -
What Are We Doing About It
was read, by Mrs.. Lloyd
Whytook.
Mrs. Elsie Houston then
favoured with a delightful-
piano instrumental.

Mrs. Ruby MacDonald gave
a short -paper where Chris-
tian Stewardship emphasiz-
ed three ideas - time, talent
and possessions.

M. McLeod is ninety-one
years young.
Mrs.- Emile MacLennan
had the cast removed on her
wrist Friday morning. Mrs.
MacLennan' hurt her wrist in
a fall about six weeks ago.

and Visitor, were taken by
herself and Mrs. Lois
Walden. It very pointedly
suggested new ideas and
thoughts on how we might
work at stewardship in , our
everyday'lives.
Mrs. Finlay returned to
,the chair for the business
portion of the meeting.

opens tireatre series
It will be a quick dash from
-the stage of one of Ontario's
biggest summer festivals to
another when Beth Anne
Cole opens the winter theatre
- program at the Blyth Centre
for the Arts on October 7.
Miss Cole will be starring
