articles from recent

Unquenchable Human
` Spirit" and ``Rural
Ministry". A question period
was held after these thought-
provoking readings.

poem, Marathon of Hope, in
honour of Terry Fox.
• Mrs. •Bessie ' McNee
chaired the business part• of
the meeting. Sixteen ladies
• answered roll call by telling
• their favourite hobby.
Minutes were read and
adopted, correspondence
was read and the treasurer's
report was given• .

1982. It was decided to buy 50
church calendars. Mrs.
Bessie McNee brought to the
attention of the ladies that
there is a box of quilt
material to be sewed up this
winter. The need for a fence
around the church
llowerbeds was mentioned
and Mrs. Amy Wiggins of-
fered some fencing which
was gratefully accepted.
Lunch was served by Mrs.
Marj Pentland and Mrs.
Donna Young.

Anglican church minister retires

On Sunday evening St.
Peter's Anglican Church,
Lucknow was •filled to
capacity when St. Paul's,
Ripley and The Church of the'
Ascension, Kinlongh
members •and visiting
friends joined for a worship
service and for Rev. Gar -
raft's farewell • message.
Rev. Garratt, who is retiring
from the ministry, has been
minister of the Lucknow
charge for nine years.
Mrs. Ann Pritchard,
organist, led the choir made
up from the three churches.
Mr. Reuben Mullett assisted
and WfisssLindell Ctoss car-
ried the processional cross.
Just before the closing
hrmn and prayer, Reuben
addressed the congregation
on this being Mr. Garratt's
farewell and asked Mrs.
Edith Cooper to bring Mrs.
Garratt to the chancel with
her husband. Mrs. Cooper
