Congratulations go to Miss
Debbi Lowry, daughter of
Perrin and Marion Lowry of
Lurgan who was . awarded
the Miss . Mid Western
Ontario title at the Lucknow
Fall fair last Saturday. Miss
Listowel was next to Debbie
in this annual event.
On Wednesday ` . evening
July 8 Debbie, in competition
with nine other local girls
was chosen the Ripley Fall
Fair . (been Debbie and
Marey Kempton of
Amberley, the runner . up in
that competition. arranged
by Judy Hawrylyshyn and
Barbara Gamble and held in
the Huron Township hall in
Ripley, are pictured together
in the 1981 Ripley: Huron fall
fair prize list.
John Gamble president of
the Ripley Agricultural
Society called on Sunday
morning with the good news.
Also in this same good news,
John reported that the
society's entry in the
Lucknow parade had
received a first prize. He
said that vice-president
Keith van der Hoek and
director -Bob Forster were
the pilot and co-pilot of the
entry.

Mrs. Jean Barnes of Clio,
Michigan is holidaying with
Howaifi d and Marj .Thompson
at their home on William
Street in Ripley: They are
also visiting with friends in
the Purple Grove area.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Hildred
of Londonvisited . last
Thursday with Howard and.
Mad. Thompson in. Ripley
and with Bert. Thompson on
the: Boundary north of
Purple Grove.
On Monday and Tuesday,
Mrs. rJean Barnes, Mrs.
Wanda Gawley, Mrs. Marj
Thompson, and Mrs. Olive
Needham visited with the
Leeson and Greig families in
Elmira
Visitors with Mr.. and Mrs.
Les Wardell on the weekend
were Mr. and Mrs. Mike
Ashton, Michael Jr.;
Christopher, Carrie Lynn,
and Mr. Brucke Orland all of
Bright.
Visiting -with Evelyn and
Jack Hinson in Ripley from
Wednesday of last week to
yesterday (Tues., Sept. 22)
were Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Greenwood of Saskatoon,
Saskatchewan.
They motored all the way
in their 1980 Chev Malibu
Sedan leaving Monday, Sept.
14 and arriving here Wed-
nesday. 16th.

driving along the road
outside Iron Bridge in
Northern Ontario looking for
a motel a black bear collided
with the left front corner of
the car.
Gordon, who was a grain
elevator operator for many
years, is now a member of,
the staff at the University of
Saskatchewan in Saskatoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Greenwood
are now visiting relatives in.
Welland, .:Oshawa, and
Ottawa before driving back
to Saskatoon. Gordon ' is a
cousin of Evelyn Johnson.
Bill Steer well known in
this area had his 94th bir-
thday last . Friday, Sep-
tember 18, 1; 1. Best wishes
go to Bill who is a resident in
Pinecrest Manor Nursing
Home in Lucknow.
Bev's back
Speaking of those brown
paper bags for the news it
was sure nice to see, Bev
Clark of the Kincardine
News back again last week.
Everywhere Bev went in
Ripley for news she was
greeted like a long lost.
friend. Bev Clark (Mrs.
Brian Fry) has been on
maternity leave . during the
summer. She is now working
part time. Bevsays that she
will be down Saturday and
presumably will take pic-
tures again. Last year Bev
had a nice picture of the
grain show in the complex.
With- a brand new . grain
Witand this year , maybe she
ll repeat.
Doug Peterbaugh had a
coloured slide picture of the
grain show last year which
won first prize, in its class at
the Convention of Ontario
Agricultural Spcieties held
last February in the Royal
York Hotel in deep down-
town Toronto. Perhaps both
Doug ,and Bev will repeat
this year with the brand new
grain stand just built by

arrival of their daughter,
Erin MacKenzie, a sister for
Matthew.

Many from this area were
involved with the Lucknow
Fall Fair. Be it through the
differentorganizations,
clubs, bands or the little ones
in the parade on their bikes.
It was a good day for the fair.
Congratulations to those who
won prizes for their partici-
pation. '

hard covered Bibles to the
Sunday School, of South
Kinloss Presbyterian Church
during the Rally Service on
Sunday. Mrs. Sharon Mac-
Dougall thanked the W.M.S.
on behalf of the Sunday
School teachers and classes.
Norma Maclntyre was
home from Toronto 'and
Margaret Maclntyre was
home from Hamilton where
the girls attend University.

visited' in Toronto on Sunday
with Mr. William Townson of
Sudbury, who is a patient in
Prhicess Margaret Hospital
and with Mr. and Mrs.

who attended the special
mission service in Goderich
Presbyterian Church on Sun-
day.
