REEVE GEOM. ELLIOTT OF CLINTON
IS HURON'S WARDEN FOR 1934
Caucus System of Thirty Years' Standing Is Again Employed in
Making the Selection, the Conservative Having Their Term
This Year -New Clerk and New Treasurer Have Their First
Council Meeting -Business at the Opening Session on Tuesday
With a new clerk and a new title -
Ores' installsel in their respective of-
eces, and with twenlyetue of the 1933
members again taking their places,

county tv,uncll cv,uvened on 1ueaday
efteruoou for its January seesiuu. The
aeatug was as calm as the proverbial
ells pond, In sharp contrast to the
eumewbat hectic acvwea which fea-
tured the 1963 meetlup.
The first Item or business was the
ealec-tluu of a Warden, the houur tall-
ies to Reeve George H. Elliott of
Clinton. The time-bonored custom of
aLtktng the selection of a Liberal and
a Conservative, year about, was again
adhered to, the Conservatives making
atelr cbolce in caucus. Mr. Elliott's
nomination was moved In open
council by Reeves Gamble (Howlett)
ants Stewart (West Wawanosh) and
received unanimous endorsation, there
be.ng o0 other nomination.
Yellowingstatutory procedure, Clerk
Re berms presided up to the time of
the Walden's election and his Instal-

in impressive fashion by Judge Coe

and had performed bis duties in a

manner. His Honor also praised the
1933 round] for the loyal support
that had been given to the Warden.
"1 see some now faces here this
year. Nome of the old warhorses are
mlping. I do not see Owen Geiger
among arose present," jocularly re-
marked the Judge, saying also that
he was pleased to see that members
had taken hie hint of a year ago that
Liberals and Conservatives Inter-
mingle, rather than sit at separate
tables.
In more aerloue vein His Honor
said that If he were asked for advice
be would give the some as that he
bad given the clerk and treasurer at
the time of their Installation In of -
See. The *dela was to "mind your
own business" and to stick faithfully
to the duties which had been assigned
to them.

"it's the first time I've ever been
before a Judge," the new Warden
witerracked in typical Irish brogue to

were twenty-one of last year's man-
