For 10 days recently, at
Camp Menesetung, a few
miles north of Goderich, 45
Canadian Girls in Training
(CGIT) had a chance to
• develop their • leadership
skills and gain new friend-
ship.
The gills, aged 15 to 17,
from all over '1 Ontario,
arrived at theUnited Church
• camp here on Tuesday,.
• August 18 and left • Friday,
August 28.
CGIT trains girls 12 to 17
years old' for Christian
living. it is a 68 -year-old
organization sponsored by
the the Baptist Federation of
Canada, the United Church,
the Presbyterian Church and
.the Disciples of Christ. The
junior equivalent is the
Explorers group for girls 9 to
'years olci. •
The senior girls chosen to
go to leadership developrnent camp, are the cream of
the crop'.. • They must
promise to go back to WIT.
for- at least one year or, to
serve as, a junior" counsellor
in an Explorers group. They
can attend camp only once.

At training camp, the girls
learn more about the CGIT
program , including bible
• study mission study, vesper
services, service projects
and long and short term
projects. , They learn
workshop methods, how to
teach games and lead
singing, how to make slides,
hiking techniques and how to
run a business meeting.

followed by a funeral service
on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with

At Menesetung, • the
were divided into groups,
'Each girl gave a pres-
entatilonf putting into
use , what they had learned..
• Evaluation followed. The
girls also 'sat* a film and
heard a talk on the disabled.
And they enjoyed sports,
swimming and singing; They
wound up their program with
a colorful banquet and
vesper service last Thursday
evening.,
During the 10 -day camp,
national executive secretary
Fanshun Watts and Ontario
Association President Joan
Plume each visited for a day
and the camp committee
held a day of craft activities
for the group. ,..
This, is, the third time that,
CGIT has. rented Camp
Menesetung for its leader-
ship training program and
although there were par-
ticipants from as close as
Clinton and Lucknow, others
came from as far away as
Sault Ste. Marie, Sarnia,
Windsor, Chatham, Ottawa,
Sudbury and North Bay.
Each one will take back new
experiences to share with
her fellow CG1T members,
