U.C.W. met at the home .of
Mrs. Vernon ,Hunter. Mrs.
Russ Button welcomed ev-
eryone and read a timely
poem, Harvest Time: The
roll" call, Tell ` a highlight of
your summer, was answered
by 13 ladies.
There will be pick up, as iln
the Spring, of tins . and
bottles for relief work, OctobP,

Mrs. Robert .Irwin report-
ed a good number of children
enjoyed church . camp and
thanked all U.C.W. members
for :their, financial support.
She also invited everyone to
the Sunday School bre , ast
September 13.
Pinecrest Nursing Ho e
sent their thanks on behalf of
all the patients for the Handy
Bags made by the U.C.W.
members.
Mrs. ,Cliff ° Menary took
order for 1982 church calend-
ars. Mrs: Vernon Hunter
reported. on visits made and.
cards sent this summer.
Mrs. Robert Irwin chaired
the program based on Love
and Faith. Scripture was
read by .Mrs. Allan Gibson.
Mrs. Irwin referred to a
poster listing the five import-
ant things Love is noted for.
She ' noted we all have to
make personal choices all
through life. God's kingdom
on earth is based ° on Faith
and Love. After discussion,
papers .were--passed-to-each
one to :.valuate their own
responses .to love's. demands.,
Then: each member was
asked to make a suitable.
comment about each one
present. These were written
and will surely, give each of
us a lift each . day.
Mrs. . Button closed ' the
meeting by thanking the
hostess and all helping. She
read a poem, Where Summer
Lingers. Prayer and the
repeating of the benediction
ended the meeting.
Mrs. Allan Gibson con-
ducted a successful' hobby
sale while • the committee
served lunch.
Unit 2 •
In the afternoon of Sept-
ember 1, 13 members and
one visitor met at the home
of Mrs. Jean Jardine for the
September meeting of the
Lucknow U.C.W. Unit 2.
Mrs. Peter Cook, as Lead-
er, welcomed all present.
She expressed hope that all
were pleased to be back as a
group again and looking
forward to good fellowship.

The Aim of the U.C.W.
was repeated followed by a
reading by Mrs. Cook entitl-
ed, Your Name, followed by
a prayer.
The roll call was answered
,by the highlight of your holi-
days.
Committee reports were
given and several future
meetings announced, also a
request that calendars
should be ordered.
Mrs. Jardine than escorted'
Mrs. Isabel MacKenzie to a
chair in the centre Of the
morn, pinning a dainty pink
corsage to express good
wishes for her 90th birthday,
reciting a very touching and
fitting poem for the occasion.
The devotional part of the
meeting was chaired by Mrs.
lovely hymns were sung in
keeping; with her choice of
the word Love in song, all
' familiar old hymns.
Mrs. Beryl Hunter read
the . scripture lesson.
" The meditation on, Love,
was read by Mrs.' Mary Mac-
Gillivray., comparing love to a
plant which must be nourish-
ed and the many ways we can
express it, helping a neigh-
- hour, a hand -clasp, or just a
smile
Mrs. Isabel Ritchie read a
very touching poem entitled,
For. This One Hour.
The, study book was taken
by Mrs. Ross Shielis, who
chose to speak about the
Canadian Indian, expressing
the great injustice of the'
white man To" them. They
were the first settlers but
were pushed aside, their
land taken, and have been
allowed ,such small areas to
reside in and make a life to
enjoy, They are deprived of
so many of the things we
enjoy and take for granted. A
short discussion followed as
to how we might be able to
improve this selfish situa-
tion.
Mrs. MacDonald thanked
all who had helped in . any
way and a daintly lunch was
served by her committee..

The September meeting of
Lucknow U.C.W. Unit 3. was
held on Tuesday, September'
1 at 2 p.m. Eleven members
met at the home •of .Mrs.
Lawrence MacLeod.
Mrs. Harvey Houston wel-
comed everyone a d opened
with a poem, Bro erhood of
Man: Mrs. Gordon Kirkland
read the scripture and Mrs:
Alex MacNay gave: the medi-
tation, ° What is life all.
,about? This was, followed by
the poem, .The , World is
Mine. Mrs. Grace Gibson
gave the prayer to close the
devotions.
