Ripley man tours Europe

Mrs. Ruth Rosenberg. and
two small children and her
° aunt Mrs. Isabel Vitale all of
Detroit were in Ripley last
Wednesday. Mrs, Rosenberg
• was searching for in-
formation on some of her
ancestors who lived in ,the
area namely Mathesons,
Morrisons, and. Gossells.
During the afternoon she
called on Mrs. Marlene
Coiling clerk of ' Huron
township, Ab Wylds, Mrs.
Donalda Gossell, and Mrs.
Wanda (Vic) Gawky, She
also visfted• the Ripley
Cemetery where she found
one name for which she was
looking.
Mrs. Grace Murray of
Ripley underwent surgery in
the Owen Sound hospital
.early last week. , Her many
friends here wish her well,
Bobby Robertson of the
Tenth concession is
Presently on a vacation trip
to California. 'Cliristena
Robertson of Ripley took
Bobby to the bus stop in
Bervie. Early last Tuesday
afternoon he was on the
plane for Los Angeles.
Mr, and Mts. Norval Bell
of Prince Albert Saskat-
chewan were visiting with
Jack and Betty Scott in
. Ripley last week. The
mothers of both men were
sisters and further both Jack,
and Norval were born on the
same day, in the same room
and hospital. Norval Bell
was one of the four engineers
chosen to drive the train
carrying the late John G.
Diefenbaker on the funeral
trip from Ottawa. Normal
drove the train from Walrus
to Prince Albert—the burial
place,
Jack Johnson of Ripley is
presently visiting with his
daughter, husband, and
family in the Mount Forst
area. •
Jack Meurs, son of Mr. and
Mrs, Gerry Meurs of the
Fourth concession west in
Huron township is presently
on a five week vacation in
Europe. (i his .tour he will
visit places in Holland,
Belgium, Germany, and
France. Afterhis return he
• will enrol on September 11 in
the Centralia Community
'College taking the two year
diploma course in
Agricultural Business
.Management. •
During the first of last
rweek, Mrs: Margaret Ann
Morrison of • Melbourne
visited with her sister, Mrs.
Mary Fludder while . her
husband Carl Morrison was
in the area on a business trip.
Then later Mary and Cathy
Fludder motored to
Melbourne to visit with Mr.
and Mrs.. Carl Monison and
son Kevin. While there they
attended the annual popular
roast beef dinner held at
Poplar Hill west of London
on Highway 22. At thisdinner
they served over five
thousand people. They are
organized to handle four line
ups at the same time so the
longest wail is about 15
minutes, And all the food you
want pith two big slices of
roast beef for a modest
cfisrge of five dams - no
wonder it is popular.
Just after supper time on
Sat, Aug. 15 Mrs, John W.
Scott was knocked un-
conscious in, an accidental
fall on the sidewalk near her
'home at tio east end of
Ripley, Mary suffered
several bruises and a cut on
her forehead; Mrs: Jim
Stewart, a neighbour across
the road, noticed her lying on
the walk and along withher
husband Jim summoned
help. She was taken by
arnbulanc,e to Kincardine
and District Hospital. Tests
.showed n� fractured bones
and there they stopped the
profuse bleeding from her
forehead. She. wait released
before Midnight, to • return

home. Mrs. Scott was
guiding a threeeyear-old boy
visiting at their home when
she missed the step from the
old sidewalk to the new one.
Folks are glad to learn as
was Mary herself, that she
suffered no hone fractures
although' she had suffered
. painful injuries to her arms
and face.
Last week, Mrs. Evelyn
• Johnson of Ripley .and her
.friend Mrs.. Edna Mills of
Goderich traded vtsits. First
Mrs. Johnson motored to
Grand Bend for a couple of
days with Mrs, Mills at her
cottage home in Grand Bend.
Then Mrs. Mills visited with
iVirs. Johristin in Ripley..

Hospital staff and sister
Jean MacDonald of the
Pinecrest Manor Nursing
Horne staff, Lucknow, have
enjoyed a weeks holidays
together at their home on
1Vialcolm Street in Ripley.' •
Mr. and Mrs. Herman
Meurs of , Enuueloord in
Holland returned home on
truesday of last week after
spending the past four weeks
visiting with his brother,
wife, and family, Mr. and
• Mrs. Gerry Meurs on the 4th
• concession west in Huron
township.

industries in Southwestern Ontario is now underway by

Complex. to the bulk transmission grid and maintain the
capability to interchange power with neighbouring utilities
