London. On Sunday their
visitors were Mary Ellen's
mother, Mrs Corry Bloetjes,
Mr. and Mrs. Mike Bloetjes
and daughters and Mr. Ed
Bloetjes and friend, all. of
London.
Mr. and Mrs. Morley Scott
attended the Watke=Banks
wedding, held in Walkerton '
last week. Supper guests this
week included Mrs. Marion
Martin and Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Martin of Kitchener. Joy
Helm, Mrs: Scott's niece,
spent a few days holidays
with them on the farm.

and her parents, Mr. and
-Mrs. Francis Boyle. Their
guest . is Miss Anne
Derryman of Devan County,
England. Anne is also
:planning a trip West to
Calgary and the Rocky
Mountains. Earlier in the
year Heather visited with
Anne's family in Britain.

Earl Elliott were Mr. and
Mrs. Thomas Zook and.
Jeanne, Christine and Nancy
of Michigan.. Mrs: Zook is an
old Scouting friend of the
Elliott's eldest daughter,
Mrs. Paul Greenwood of
Teeswater.
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Sutton
held an impromptu barbecue
Sundayevening, which was.
,well attended by relatives
and neighbors.

Mrs: Gladys Arnold visited
recently with her brother-in-
law, Henry Arnold at
Brucelea Haven, Walkerton,
Mrs. Johns C. MacDonald
entertained the neighbours
of Queen St. West to a Tea
last Thursday. She was
assisted by ' Corinne who
sang several lovely Scottish
music which she enjoys and
so does everyone else: ' A
special welcome Was given.
Annie and Ham' MacKinnon
who do not enjoy the best of
;health. The .guests admired'
the attractive, comfortable
new MacDonald home at the
end of Queen St..

Home from hospital
It is always nice . to hear
that folks from the area have
been able to return ;home
from hospitals. Last Wed-
nesday Redvers Johnston
was back from Kincardine
District Hospital. Also from
there was Mrs. Elva (Wm.
R.) Lowry., Home from
London are ' Mrs. Audrey
MacDonald, , St. Joseph's
Hospital and Allan Irwin
University Hospital. In
Kincardine is Mrs. Violet
,( Dave) Martyn of Huronvilla
in Ripley.
,, Back to Toronto,
Last Thursday, Bill
Robertson, who had been
visiting in the area, returned
to Toronto. On Saturday, he
was one of a crowd num-
belling more than thirty-five
thousand attending the
annual , Fergus . Highland
Games.
Visitedher sister
Dorothy and Alf Beal of
Stratford who were at their.
Inverlturon cottage visited
last Wednesday afternoon in
Ripley with her sister Fran
Wylds.

Ripley 441 Club
Just discovered, in the
bottom of one of the news
bags on the door here was a
note from Shannon Black-
well
lackwell telling about a recent
meeting of the Ripley 4-H
Beef Club. The meeting was
held at the farm of. John
Elliott. The 'members
diseusse.d the training of
their calves then took part in
a quiz on. Housing .Systems
for beef .cattle. At. the end of_
the meeting Mrs. Elliott
served hot dogs and . cold
drinks.
Visiting out of town.
Mrs. Gertrude. McKay and
Mrs. Reta Irwin visited with\
Mrs. Lohnes recently, at the
home of her daughter Mrs.
Willard McKay nearEmbro..
Mrs. Lohnes is spending
some time with her family.
Mr. Earl Lohnes .has been
moved to a nursing home in
Tavistock.. He is not as well
as Mrs. Lohnes. The Ripley
ladies also called on Rev.
and Mrs. George Ball in
Milverton and Mrs. Eckmier
who is in the Bonnie Brae
Nursing Home in Tavistock.
They were all pleased to
hear news of Ripley friends.

Let's Explore '81.
Mr. and Mrs. Lorne
Emmerton and their
daughter, Lori of Ripley
motored to the Huntsville
area on August 1st where
Lori attended a week long
camp at Doe Lake.. The
theme of the camp was
"Let's Explore 81". While
there she camped with
disabled guides sharing their
experiences. Last weekend
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Bill Bogues of Lucknow and
Cindy Emmerton travelled
to Huntsville where they
picked up Lori. While Mr.
and Mrs. Bogues wereaway,
Miss Lassie Bogues visited
with Miss Percy Emmerton
and family.
Hail storm here.
Ripley and area around it
had a tail storm last Friday
afternoon at supper time.
Later at midnight a thunder
and lightning storm brought
the second million dollar
rain to the area in as many
weeks. The hail stones were
the size of marbles.
Hanover fall fair
The Hanover fair held last
Friday and Saturday was the
third fall fair for the Bruce
and Grey District 10 this
year. The other . two fairs
were at Ayton and Port
Elgin.
Visited nursing home
Mrs. Mary Fludder visited
Bill Steer. in Pinecrest Manor
Nursing Home in Lucknow,
last week.
Off to Saudi Arabia
A week from, today, on
Wednesday August 19, Dr.
Donald J. McDonald, his
wife Pat, and family Scott,
Steve, Duff, and Julie leave
Toronto for Riyadh in Saudi
Arabia for another year.
Passed away'
Mrs. Eileen Emmerton.
died in Kincardine and
District Hospital last Friday
morning August 7, 1981. The
former Anna Eileen Farrell,
wife of the late Gordon
Emmerton, she was born in
Huron township on Sunday,
Jun.e 9, 1918, The funeral
service was held on Monday
afternoon of this week at the
MacKenzie McCreath
Funeral Home in Ripley. It
was conducted by Rev. J.R.
King of Kincardine, minister
of St. Luke's Anglican
Church at Lurgan as well as
at. the Church of the Messiah
in Kincardine.
The Ripley Legion
Auxiliary held a service at
' the Funeral Home on Sunday
evening. Interment was in
St.. Luke's Cemetery at
Lurgan. Eileen is survived
by her family oftwo
daughters and six sons\ as
follows -- Nancy, Mrs.
Russell Swan of the 12 con.
Ashfield township; Helen
Jean of Toronto; John of
Huron township; . Bert of
Edmonton; Terry of
Harriston; Lynn of
Edmonton; Kenneth of
Massey; and Danny of
Huron township; and sixteen
grandchildren. Also sur-
viving are five sisters and a
brother. They are Jean, Mrs.
John MacDonald; Marion,
Mrs. Bev Cliffe of Lvrgan
Beach, Kay, Mrs. Glen.
Fraser of Maple, Ont.,
Helen, Mrs. Ron Tiner of
London. Ethel, Mrs. John
Nother of Edmonton and
Jack Farrell, Concession 12,
Huron township. Her
mother, Mics. Ada (Herb)
Farrell of Ripley survives
also several nieces and
nephews. To all these
sympathy is extended at this
time of bereavement.
