Hundreds ofblaekhlyds t►
Speaking of the approach
of the fall season on Monday
morning of this . week the
corn fields belonging :to
Jerry Huber and Wally
Pollock at the north edge of
Ripley were filled with
hundreds of blackbirds.
There were so many that
they had spilledover onto the
lots at the north end of
William Street and the trees
on. Malcolm Street. The roof
of the Bert McTavish barn
was covered and there was a
solid row along its peak
ridge. For as many years as
this writer can recall flocks
of blackbirds flying into
Ripley from the country, was
a sign of fall.
