A•second re' union of, the
Graham descendants from
Canada and U.S,A. was held
on. Saturday, August lst and
Sunday, August 2nd, at
Brookside School and at
South Kinloss Presbyterian
Church. Many local families.
MacLeo4-1r; MacIntyres,
MacNays and MacConnells
are descendants of Catherine
Livingstone Graham (1786 -
1874) and her husband Dun
can Graham. Catherine, a
widow came to Canada with
six of her family, some being
married.
On Saturday afternoon
several descendants placed
posters of Knapdale, Scot-
land; pictures of family an-
cestors, articles and picture
books to share, in the audi-
torium at Brookside &School.
Registration was handled
by Margaret MacDonald and
Gladys Tuck. Bruce County
miniature flowers and tam-
o-shanters were used as
corsages and boutonnieres,
and each family branch was
colour coded on their name
tage. This was also a free
time for visiting.
Frank MacKenzie, Luck -
now, played the bag pipes
while the clan gathered, and
piped in the seventy guests
• for a banquet. -
Graham MacDonald, Lon-
don, was master of ceremon-
ies and welcomed everyone.
Each family present had one
representative introdUce
their family, tell where they
were front, and their connec-
tion with the Grahams. Gra-
ham thanked everyone for
• their contribution to the
booklet, 0 Those Grahams",
a family history book compil-
ed and edited by Graham and
Margaret MacDonald.
.The Graham Award in
cash, for a student graduat-
ing in 1981 froth secondary
school, or a post secondary
institution was presented to
Rodney Bratton, Calgary, in
a draw made by Ryan
Durham.
The guests were welcomed
to this area by Warren Zinn,
Reeve of Ashfield Township,
Huron County.
•. Mrs. •Donalda Benoit,
Muskegon, Miclhiga,n,
brought greetings from the
Donald and Ann Graham
branch, and she told of her -
trip to Scotland, doing re-
search into the •Graham
family history. With pictures
and records she was able to
• establish, each one had
learned a trade before emi-
grating to the Lobo District,
south of London, Ontario,
prior to coming to. Kinloss
Township.
The Graham Song, corn

by Wanda and Murray
Keith.

McConnells, MacLeods and

Dougald and Sandy. travelled

Grew fields of wheat, farmed

O Taught in schools, led a

Worked together, made the

And now the clan has come
to sing,

The rest of the evening
spent. with Scottish Country
Dancing, conducted by Mack
and Judy MacDonald, while
others visited and renewed
aquaintances.
The second day of the
reunion began at 10 a.m., at
South Kinloss Presbyterian
• Church with a reunion ser -
O vice, conducted •by Mack
MacDonald. This was very
appropriate as the Graham
• Clan has always been assoc-
iated with South Kinross• ,:
Evan Keith brought greet-
• years, ing from the Session of the
r
church. Scripture readings
were given by Robert Black,
Calgary, Psalm 23, and Mrs.
Donelda Benoit, Psalm 46; a
duet by Wanda and Murray
Keith and the message,
• Remember, Renewal, Re-
sponse", was given by Gra-
ham MacDonald.
After the service • many
joined in a cemetery walk,
led 'by Douglas Graham. •
There were 20 graves 'of
deceased family members,
• marked with plaid crosses.
At Brookside School a
group picture was taken and
lunch was •enjoyed. Family
• members introduced their
families again as other family
branches had joined the
• reunion for the Sunday fest-

An invitation was extend -
ed to attend the next reunion
in Manitoba in 1984.
At .3 p.m. all joined in a
circle to sing the Graham
Song and AuldO Lang Syne.
Some then were taken on a
• tour to the Homesteads.
• Honoured guests were Mr.

Lucknow; Mrs. Lila (Gra-
ham) Black, Calgary; Mr.
and Mrs. Kelso MacNay,
Lucknow; Mrs. Sandy Mac-
Leod, Wingham; Mr. and

now; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. F.
