Kinlough woman in hospital BY WY Bo* Social News We are sorry that Mrs. Alex Percy had to return to the hospital for further med- ical attention. We send get well wishes. She was taken to University Hospital, London and as returned to Wing, ham. Mrs. John Barr, Mrs. Mar- retta Hodgins, and Edna and May Boyle were dinner guests on Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs, Tom McDonald. Mr. and Mrs. John Scott of Ripley visited on Wednesday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Nicholson. eas Descendants of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Stan- ley, formerly of concession 14, were here over the week- end or their annual Stanley reunion. Holyrood W.I. The Holyrood Women's Institute held their July meeting in the form of a pot luck supper at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 2 at the home of Mrs. Raynard Ackert. At the conclusion of a sumptu- ous meal all 'gathered in the living room for the meeting. The president, Mrs. Lorne Eadie, extended a hearty welcome to everyone and gave a reading entitled, Going on a Diet Tomorrow. The roll call was your favourite line from the Mary Stewart Collect. The minutes and financial statement were read by the secretary and Holyrood's day to hostess at the log house at the museum at Southampton is August 13. Miss May Boyle gave the tribute to •the late Terry Fox, a courageous young Canad- ian who undertook a cross Canada Marathon of Hope to raise money for cancer re- search. A minute's silence was observed and May sang softly the hymn, Abide With Me, which was sung at his funeral that same afternoon. The president then intro- duced the guest speaker, Mrs. Don McAdam, presid- ent of Bruce. South District. She brought greeflngs from the district and expressed her pleasure in being invited to attend. She said she enjoyed the enthusiasm and friendliness of the meeting. She complimented the group on their 1981-82 program and gave them an up date from the district annual meeting. Mrs. William Mac- Pherson, secretary, thanked Mrs. McAdam and present- ed her with a gift in apAre- dation. Mrs. William Eadie gave a nice reading on What is a Farmer, and also •read- a couple of jokes. Mrs.. Ray,nt ard Ackert led a lively sing • song of old favourites. Happy Birthday was sung to the president, Mrs. Lorne Eadie. Mrs. David Eadie of Bel - more read a splendid paper prepared by Mrs. Mary Ren- wick on the Mary Stewart Collect which is used at each meeting. Lori and Beth Ging- rich favoured with two songs - playing •their own guitar accompaniment. Mrs. Frank Maulden thanked the hostess and all • who contributed to the pro- gram and a most enjoyable evening was brought to a close. St. Helens institute meet inJuly The July rneetink of St. Helens Women's Institute was held in the hall with 11 members present. The roll call was well answered by, Points to rem- ember when handling food. In the treasurer's report it was noted that a nice profit was made from all the cater- ing the group has done in the past month. Siding for the south side of the hall was, purchased dur- ing the month of June when the tax was removed. Mr, and Mrs. Ross Erring- ton were appointed to buy a vacuum cleaner for the hall. The fall rally will be held in Huron West in the Belgrave hall on October 5. In place of the motto, interesting minutes from the first Institute books were prepared by Miss Beatrice McQuillin and read by Mrs. Cooper. These were much enjoyed by the members present.
