Apo gat 48073:
I used to write for the Signal Star
when I lived in Kingsbridge and I owe
answers to nice : letters from friends
both: in Lucknow and Goderich. Maybe
you could let them know I've enjoyed
this work : as "Volunteer Service to
America" . since \ my assignment to
Lubbock Texas „January 1980 in the
crime prevention program, then since
June 1980 to Little Rock, Arkansas, to
work ' in fund raising - organizing
senior social clubs and now doing.
talent shows. The .last of which will be
June 27th, 1981. By that time all
programs will` be established so that
they can . go on without me.
It's been a lot of fun and much good
youthful talent has been rolling in with
both the kids and the money. Then I'll
cover a delegates job for our Detroit
Overseas Club at a convention in Son
Mateo, California, in July, and after
that will be homeward bound to Royal
Oak, . Michigan, and will be leaving
this beautiful Ozark country.
Hope this may cover some unan-
swered letters and again many thanks
for your weekly news. items.
Sincerely,
Antoinette Dalton,
823 N. Pierce St.,
Little Rock, Arkansas.

Going S '.. j.
In hot summer weather people `love to go swimming.
Water is a free toy and lots of fun to splash around in.
Play in water carefully here . are some ideas= to help,
keep you safe.
1.Don't swim or go out in a boat during a .thunderstorm..
The electric •currents from lightning hitting a lake could
zap you. Shocking.. .
2.Don't dive into unknown or shallow water. You might
hit the bottom : or a rock. Bonk.
3.Swim with a buddy.' Not only is it_ more fun to swim with
someone `else, it's safer. No one canhelp you if no one is
there.
4.Wear a lifejacket in a boat. No matter how good ' a.
swimmer you are, you could still get tired if you have to
swim from the middle of a lake to the shore.
5.Don't swim at night. If you can't see, it's hard too know
where you are. It's also very hard to help someoneyou
can't see.
6.Don't.push people in. Although this may be fun for you,
the person who is pushed in may not have time to shut his.
mouth. Gulp.
7.Don't run on a dock or pool deck. When surfaces get wet
they become slippery you could fall down or even in.
The surprises may cost you a nose full.
r 8.Tell the person who is looking after you that you are
going swimming.
9.Don't overload a boat. A boat with too many people in it
will tip easily and. may sink.
10.Don't stand upin a boat — you might fall out:
11:If you're going exploring in a shallow river, wear some
old running shoes or flip flops. Sharp rocks, clams, nails,
and pieces of glass are everywhere.
