meeting. Mrs. Virden Mow-

secretary -treasurer, `Mrs.
Donald MacIntyre, read the
minutes and correspond-
ence.
Kairshea day at the Bruce
County Museum is to - be
August 18. The assistant
leader .for the next 4-H Club,
a cooking one, pertaining to
chicken and eggs, will be

was not as yet decided upon.
Mrs, Howald reported on
the fixing of the floor. at, the
back. of the ,, hall and the
carpet, Its was decided to
finish carpeting the rest of
the hall.

A, "get acquainted" tea
before thecommencement of
the meeting gave many of
the ladies an opportunity to
chat and . visit With our Min-
ister's wife,. Lynne McDoug-
all.
A festive air was provided
for the occasion with tea
table decorated witha bou-
quet of June flowers and
glowing candlesticks. Soft
background music added to
the atmosphere and this was
due to the competent playing
of the two pianists, Janice
Cook . and Brenda Hender-
son. Mildred Cameron, first
president of the U.C.W. . and
Bernadean , Ritchie, past
president, poured tea. .
The citizenship committee,
under the direction of Mrs.
Madeline Ritchie," conducted
the program.. She opened the
meeting with the call to
worship, which was followed
by prayer.
The devotional theme was,
Responding to Needs. Kay
Collyer : read the scripture,
which dealt with a woman of
Biblical times. Allen Brad-
ley gave the meditation
which emphasized the theme
further by bringing it up to
date on the needs of women
today. Several.. other women
assisted her and they were,.
namely,, Joy Houston, Mrs.
Clarence Ritchie, 'Mrs. Wal-
ter . Dexter, Thelma Brown,
Nancy Gibson and Brenda.
Henderson,
Deanna Reavie and. Edna
McDonald took up the col-
lection which was , dedicated
by Mrs. Elieda Wightman.
Madeline Ritchie introduc-
ed a skit, What. We, Can Do
To Fight Obscenity. Deanna
Reavie, Laura Lee Cayley,
and. Elaine "Irwin very .cap-
ably brought to attention
some of the ways, `such . as.
writing letters to Members of
Parliament, the Postmaster
General, and Keeping tab on

17. Mrs. Glen 'Haldenby
presided and opened the
meeting with a reading, Tell.
Me Again Lord, 1 Forget.
The:purpose was repeated in
unison ' followed by the roll
call and the minutes.
Mrs. Tom McDonald gave
the devotions and ,meditation
on, Life's green pastures and
a poem, God's Blessings.
Mrs.: Frank. Maulden, Mrs.
John B arr and Mrs: Don
Bushell had the prayer. circle.
The ladies who attended
the Presbyterial in Moles-
worth reported on that 'meet -
mg.
Miss Winnifred Percy and
Mrs. John Barr were in
charge of the program. Miss
Percy . read the introduction
to thestudy on, Family and
SocialValues, and the chang-
es in family life in India.
Mrs. J. Barr read, Flame of
the Forest. Mrs. Tom :Mc-
Donald gave a reading, Lets
Think It Over. Mrs. Ben
Scott read an article from
The Glad. Tidings on John
and Judy Bertholets work in
Nepal. A play followed entit-
led, . The Wedding, which
was , about a family in India
making; .preparations for . a
wadding. Thosetaking the
parts, were Mrs. Don Robert-
son, Mrs. Frank Maulden,
Mrs, Tom McDonald, Mrs.
Glen Haldenby, Mrs. Ben
Scott, Mrs. George Harkness
and Mrs. Don Bushell, . with
Miss Winnifred . Percy lead-
er. A discussion followed.
Miss Percy gave the court-
esies and refreshments were
served. •.
Bruce Presbytery hears appeal
from Silver Lake Camp
Rev. Leslie . McSpadden,
Har ilton Conference Per-
sonnel Officer, was in attend-
ance at Bruce -Presbytery,
when it met at Carrick Cainp,
Tuesday, June 16.
Rev. Ann Ross of Clifford
opened the morning session
with a sing song. Chair-
person Mary ` Ann Connell
declared the Court opened_
for the business of the day.
She then gave a short review
of the busy year she has had
and expressed sincere thanks
to all who had been so
successful.
Lloyd Hutton, chairman of
Carrick Camp dorector's
committee, extended a, wel-
come to the members and
gave a little insight into the
history of the camp.
`The four committees met
and then re -convened to
report on their findings.
Oversight of Pastoral
Charges had a full report
ending with prayer by Rev.
Gerald Paul, asking God's
guidance in dealing with
injustices. being carried out
in some communities.
The afternoon session wor-
ship service was given by
Rev. A. Hewitt, who recently
celebrated his 50th anniver-
sary of service to the. church.
He spoke briefly of .his early
ministry in Saskatchewan in
the 30s.
There was a Silver Lake
Camp presentation given by
two co-orindators making an
appeal for help.
•The installation of the new
chairperson, Rev. Dr. Al
McDowell, was done by the
'outgoing chairperson, Mary
Ain Connells and he was in
charge for the remainder of
the meeting.
The remaining committees,
gave their reports, unfinish-
ed business was dealt with,
courtesies were given " by
Mrs. Lorraine Renwick and
Dr. McDowell pronounced
the .benediction.
Lodge4onates to
children's hospital
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Arm-
strong of Teeswater,, Worthy
Patron and Matron of the
Huron Chapter #89,. Order of
the Eastern Star, presented a
cheque to the Wingham and
District Hospital's director of
Nursing, William Woodley
on June 8. The money will be
used to purchase a suction
apparatus to be used in the
cardiac unit of the hospital.
This was the special project
of the matron and patron for
this year. •
'A donation was also sent to
the Burns unit of the Shrin-
ers Hospital for Crippled
Children.
This donation was the
special project of the Worthy
Grand Matrons this year.
The members of Huron
Chapter held a bake sale and
a tea and a dessert euchre to
raise • the money for this
donation.
