Congratulations to Mrs,
Valerie Found who graduat-
ed Friday from Georgian Col-
lege with her diploma in
Journalism. Mr, and Mrs.
Stanley and family attended
the graduation exercises in
Barrie on Saturday. Valerie
also won a scholarship for
highest academic standing in
Applied Arts Division. She is
now 'employed by the, Allis-
ton Herald.

The Senate Scholarship
Committee of the University
of Western Ontario has given
final approval to the Dr. P. J.
Leahy Award. The total
amount of rnoney in the
Award 'so far, is $2,300. This
amount includes $762 from
the farewell dance and' the
remainder includes contribu-
tions from local citizens and
organizations. The amount of
the award will depend on the
interest earned on the above
monies each year.
The terms of reference for
the Award, are as follows:
To •a student graduating
from Ripley Secondary
School, Ripley, Ontario; F.
E. Madill Secondary Schoot,
Wingham, Ontario; Walker-
ton District Secondary
• School, Walkerton, • Ontario
or Sacred Heart High School,
WalkertOri, Ontario, and en-
rolled in the Faculty of
Medicine. (M.D. Prograin,
Program in Communicative
Disorders, Program in Phys-
ical Therapy or Program in
Occupational Therapy).
Preference will be given to
first year students, however,
students in any year are
eligible to apply. • Where
there is more than one appli-
cant, preference • will • be
• given to the first year student
showing the greatest finan-
cial need.
It is awarded by members
of Teeswater and District
Community in honour of Dr.
P. 3. Leahy in recognition of
his service to the community
for twenty-seven years.
The University of Western
Ontario has mailed out cop-
ies of the award to all the
high schools involved. It is
also in the University cata-
logues.

Visiting at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Thomas and family
on Friday 'was Mrs. Thomas'
brother from Cambridge.
Karey Coughlin spent Sat-
urday at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Clifford Young.
• Anniversary services were
held at the Presbyterian
Church in Whitechurch
Sunday with morning and
evening services. A large
crowd was present at both
services and a social hour
waspent in the church base-
ment with lunch being serv-
ed by the Young People's
Society following the evening
service. ' '
• Rev. R. D. Currie was
guest speaker and gave an
impressive sermon at both
services. Special music was
provided by the choir who
sang anthems, Praise Him,
Praise Him, and Toiling On.
Two duets were sung by
Karen Yourtg and Clara
Milligan, In the Garden, and
Have VA Counted the Cost.
During the morning service,
The Forster Quartet from
tucknow sang two numbers.
