Last Saturday morning the
La family, the Ripley Huron
refugee family, moved from
the Mary . Fludder , apart-
ments on Malcolm Street in
.Ripley.: Kiet La has ° been
employed in, Cambridge for
the past two months or so.
and she just recently found
suitable living quarters
there. So last Saturday his
wife May Hoa La, their
daughter Pinh La and son
Tranh La.' all moved' with
their household furnishings
and clothing to Cambridge.
May Hoa's two brothers Hoa
Tran and Vinh Tran are also
away. The family has been
in- Ripley since April 1980
-and they will be missed here.
Annual Firefighters Dance
On Sat. Junel0 the Ripley
Huron.. Firemen's annual
dance will be held in the
Community Complex Centre
with the Glenn' Boyd Or-
chestra playing. Tickets can
be obtained from anyone of
the sixteen Ripley Firemen.

Mrs. Mary Fludder and

attended the funeral service
of her sister Mrs. Bender;
the former Irene Thompson,
last Saturday morning in
Toronto. Irene, eldest
daughter ofthe late John and
Dorothy ' Thompson,spent
her . 'early: years on the
Fourth.. Concession east in
Huron . township, After
finishing public school she
attended the Ripley Con
tinuation School. •Since 1942
she has, lived in Toronto"
where she was employed in
the Bell Telephone Conin

125th Anniversary Held
This , past weekend on
Saturday evening and':: Sun-
day May 30 and. 31,,1981, the
125th Anniversary of the
Presbyterian Church in this
area was observed at Knox
Presbyterian ".Church in
Ripley. The weather
although cool was sunny and
dry and hence favoured
travelling .by car. Large
crowds were in attendance
on the three occasions name-
ly for the historical pageant
on Saturday evening and the
morning andevening church
services on • Sunday. (A
survey. on Sunday morning
showed carsiining both sides
of the main street from the
bank corner to the west end
of Ripley to the areas behind
the Huron township hallover
to the highschool and also to
the west of the hall filled
.with lines of parked cars.)

services were broadcast
•over the outside speakers
and could be heard over the
whole west end of itipley,
Tractor Fire
The fire, whistle- sounded
loud and Clear ' over Ripley
on two nights in succession
last week - Tuesday and
Wednesday. On Tuesday,,
evening at seven thirty it
was for regular fire practice.
On Wednesday evening
shortly after eight thirty, it
sounded again. Soon they ,\
were driving down the main
street headed north. First . it
was, `; Johnny Dodds in his
brown van followed by Bob
Johnston driving the fire;
truck and " Donnie Peter-
baugh driving the water tank
truck and then Barry Cliffe
in his red and white van sand
others. All headed north to .
the i2tti concession corner
and then east to the farm of ;
Jack Farrell. Here the Wir-
ing on a tractor belonging to
Cecil Sutton was burning
which the firemen were able
to extinguish and were soon
back to the fireball.

Both Anhe Marie and Mac
are well known in this area.
They have recently pur-
chased a farm near Erno in
the Rainy River district.
There will be neighbours of •
Jamie and Mary Lynn
Forster whoare already
residing there since early
spring following the sale of
the Forster farm on sideroad
ten a block east of Ripley.
Their address will, be ERI,
Pinewood, which IS "near
Emo. They will be :happy to
have their neighbours and

for a period of a few years up
to 1934 attended the Ripley
Public f School when Lucy
Robertson and Dave McLay
were teachers . here, also
Elmer Thompson before he
went to Kincardine. Her
mother's funeral was held in
Ripley at the end of January
this past winter. She was a
sister of Malcolm MacLeod.
