Chalmers church observe anniversar

The 117th anniversary ser-
vices were held at Chalmers
Presbyterian Church enhan-
ced with tulips, lilacs and
other spring flowers on Sun-
day,' May 31 at 11 a.m, with
Rev. John. Bell presiding.
The Homily, The Race Be-
fore Us, was given by guest
minister, Rev. R. D. -Currie.
'The message in song was
given by the Forster Quar-
tette, Mrs. Perrot, Mrs. Ross
Henderson, Lorne Forst-
er and Murray , Gaunt. They
sang, Nearer to the Heart of
God, and Lorne Forster and
Mrs, Ross Henderson . sang
with Mrs. Moffat of Luck -
now, as organist. The an-
them by the . choir 'was,
Toiling On.
The evening service was at
8 p.m. The ' Rev. John Bell
presidedwith the Rev.
R.D.A. Currie giving . the

large crowd in attendance
with a. smaller attendance at
the evening. service.
Rev. and Mrs. R. D. A.
Currie were dinner guests
with Mr. and Mrs. Don Ross,
Bob, David and Brian.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Uuldriks
returned home Sunday after-
noon . from Holland where.
they had visited his two
brothers and two sisters. His
wife, Dora now has no living
relatives in : Holland. They
had • a most enjoyable time
with lovely weather while
there.
This community received a
shock when they learned on
the In Memoriam that Doug-
las Sparling • of London, age
52, son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Sparling, had
•passed away in London, due
to a stroke. He leaves to
mourn his loss, his sister,
Mrs. Alan Barg9r brother-
in-law, Alan 'Baiger . and
family and his aunt, and
uncle, Mr: and. Mrs. Millan
Moore.. Burial was on Satur-
day in Wingharn Cemetery.
The community extends sym-
pathy to the relatives.
From Mrs. Olive Boss of
Wingham we learn that Ron-
ald Henderson of Stoney
Creek, formerly of Lucknow
known so well in White-
church, having attended
many parties in the commun-
ity hall, had passed away
suddenly while •mowing his

Mrs, Jannet Drennan of
Lucknow accompanied by her

ton, Alberta to visit with the.

visit, they recently returned
home.

that Kevin Springer was able
to return home recently from
London Hospital where he
underwent surgery to have
his big toe . removed after
being cut witii a lawn mower..
He can now walk and ride his
bicycle..
