community Mr. and Mrs.
Ted Bowers from Goderich.
Ted was raised in our area on
the fourth . concession of
West. Wawanosh, as a young
lad. His wife is the former
Betty Kennedy , of Goderich.
A baby shower was held on
Wednesday u evening for
Kathy Stanbury and Jason.
Joanne Whitney and Sharon
Dawson were the hostesses.
The. West Wawanosh Re-
creation Committee held a
very successful pork barbe-
que at Harry Brindley's on
�.. Saturday evening.
Holly Park spent the week-
end with her grandparents,
Bill and Marie Park and
family.
Congratulations to Mr.
and Mrs. Omar Brooks of
Lucknow who celebrated
their 45th wedding anniver-
sary: on Saturday night in
Lucknow.
Mrs:. Amy Wiggins and
Mrs. Olive Blake spent the
week in Chatham with Mr.
and. Mrs. George Cowan and
attended the United Church
conference held there.

went . to New Hamburg on
Saturday to attend the Mem
nonite Mission sale. The trip,
was made available through
the • Christian .' Fellowship
Church and Peter Martin was
the driver.
Michael Curran, nine year
old son of Ralph and Arlene
Curran, received a .cut on a
fence at the annual United
Church family picnic • at
Camp Menesetung. He was
taken to emergency at God-
erich hospital where he re-
ceived stitches to his wrist.

tended
the Huron County
Historical meeting held . in
Wingham,, 'hosted by • the
Maitland Women's Institute.
Everyone enjoyed a trip
through the museum which
is located on the plain street
of Wingham, second floor of
the old post office.

Spreading. Chestnut Tree".
'Mrs. Leslie Jacklin gave
an early history of Wingham,

Secs 4, 14, and 20, that unless noxlous weeda growing
on their lands within the Municipality of Township. of
Kinloss are destroyed• by date of June 19, 1981, and
throughout the• season, the , Municipality may enter
upon the said lands and have the weeds destroyed,
charging the costs against the land In taxes, as set out
in the Act.
The co-operation of all citizens is earnestly solicited.

Dungannon United Church
Conference was held in
Chatham .last week. Mr.
Cowan was assisted by Mrs.
Amy Wiggins' and Mrs. Olive
Blake, who attended in pres-
enting the report of the
week's activities, which Mr.
Cowan called Conference
Fallout.
The choir sang the an-
them, Each Step of the Way.
The children's story was,
The Wheat and the Weeds.
The Dungannon Youth
Group and their' • leader,
Harold Menary, have prepar-
ed .the earth bed for the
planting of the new shrubs at
the front of the church. The
UCW and Donna Alton prov-
ided the new plants and
shrubs and. Lloyd .Hodges
and Jack , and Jeff. Alton
removed the old shrubs.
While preparing the bed, a
sealer of memorabilia, plac-
ed in the.. ground by a CGIT
group. 'some years ago, was
unearthed.
The present CGIT girls
have planted flowers along
theside of the church.

discussion on an article in the
Observer concerning the new
church being started in Lon-
don suburbs by Rev. Glen
Wright, a former Dungannon
minister.
Bessie McNee chaired the
business part of the meeting
and minutes of last meeting
were read, also correspond-
ence. An invitation was, re-
ceived to attend. Blyth United.
Church on May 31 to hear a
gospel singing group. The
U.C.W. agreed to give .fin-
ancial help to the CG.I.T. in
their project to plant. flowers

was held on May 28 at
Brookside. The winners from
our school were senior girls'
winner, Janice Cook; runner-
up, Wilma Vandervelde; in-
termediate boys' winner, Le-
roy Dougherty; junior boys'
runner-up, Scott ' Hackett;
midget girls' winner, Kim
Tyler; runner-up, ' Donna
Raynard. All the the first
place winners• received a
Medallion.
