The 81st District annual
meeting of Huron -West
Women's Institutes was held
last Monday at St. Helens
United Church. The guests
were. welcomed by Mrs,
Doris Mewhinney and Mrs.
Isabel Gaunt was in charge of
registration. Dinner tickets
were sold by Mrs Shirley
Clark. ,
The president, ° Mrs.. Wil -
ham Porter, was in charge of
the day long meeting and
Mrs. Norman Coultes of
Belgrave was the pianist.
Welcome to St, Helens was
given by Mrs. Robert Aitchi-
son and the . minutes of the
last annual meeting were
adopted as read by the sec
retary, Mrs. Ross Higgins of
Belgrave.
Ratification of District Dir-
ectors ' was done by the
Provincial Board Director,

Higgins gave the financial
statement showing a busy
year with a balance for the
end of ` the year: Mrs. Mary
Clairmont of Goderich gave
the auditor's report, which
she and Mrs. Stella Crawford
had audited.
The president, Mrs. , .Por Port-
er, reported on her year's
we* in visiting the branches
and asked everyone to : be
aware of the handicapped
people in their communities
anduse care and under-
standing. She thanked all for
their co-operation during her
two years as president. Mrs.
Tom Duizer and several
ladies took part in' an unique
kitchen, band number for
Londesboro branch.
Mrs. Willis Matheson,
provincial board director on
Federated Women's .Insti-
tute of Ontario, , gave her
address -describing: the ;high-
lights across, the province.
She urged all to try and fill
the generation gap and work
hard for Howie and Country.
Mrs. Matheson presided for
the election of officers. Mrs;.
Eleanor. Bradnock convener
of the nominating committee
read the slate of officers
which were accepted.
Jane .Muegge and Loralee..
Marshall, home economists
with the Ontario Ministry of
Agriculture in Huron County
were present and Jane pres-
ented the program for 4-H
club members and . senior.
groups. She stated that there
will be more- quilting tech-
niques taught such as °.piece
work, applique, .. seminole
patchwork, trapunto and rev-
verse applique.

The afternoon session
commenced with the roll call
of the branches. Each pres-
ident told about an accom-
plishment of a 'disabledper-
son and. many ;interesting. ac-
complishments ' were told.
The In Memoriam service
was in charge of the Auburn
Branch. The president,. Mrs.
Kenneth McDougall, gave an
inspirational message and
flowerswere placed in the
arrangement by. Mrs. Elean-
or Bradnock in memory of

The Lucknow Ladies Aux -
Wary for Winter Sports,
made several purchase's dur-
ing the past season. These
include, the popcorn mach-
ine, a heater for` the penalty
box and -repairs to the booth;.
Donations were offered to all
minor hockey teams, house"
league and figure skaters
plus an extra donation to the
Juveniles for expenses incur-
red in the All Ontario finals.
Banners depicting Cham-
pionships and Finalists in All
Ontario playoffs for previous
years were made by the
