On Tuesday morning of last week ,Don McLay drove • his wife Audrey from Ripley • to Toronto airport. From fa there she flew to Philadelphia and on Thursday She attended the funeral service for her grandson Paul Christopher Scott three -day-old son of Susan and Paul Scott. Also in attendance was Susan's sister Ainslie. Sympathy is extended at this time of bereavement. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Scott have two young children in their family namely son Michael and daughter Kerry. Don was unable to attend the service due to work in connection with the postal association. • At this time of writing both Bert Irwin and Mrs. Hilda Phelan of Ripley are still pa- tients in the Owen Sound General and Marine Hospital. On Saturday Mar- tin Phelan said that his wife MIS then two weeks there undergoing treatment for hepatitis. Their daughter Tracy is staying with Mr. and Mrs. Lyn Courtney and family on the 10th concession and so able to continue to at - tend the Ripley Huron Cen- tral School Younger sister Becky is with her grand- parents Mr. and Mrs. MacKenzie in Kincardine. Also Martin said that his wife was starting to show irn provement in her illness. On the • weekend Noreen and Jean MacDonald took care of Tammy and Jason Fludder while their parents were away. Last Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Smith Robertson of Califor- nia visited in the area with Bob Robertson, Stewart and Clara Shielis, Christena Robertson, Ab and Fran Wylds. They also visited with his brother Wildon in the Wingham area and formerly of Bluevale. Smith now retired and his wife Josephine live in Montebello which is in Greater Los Angeles and just south of. Pasadena and its Rose Bowl also a part of Los Angeles. It was interesting and nice to talk with Smith again. They will return home later in June. • Visiting with Chris Robert- son of Ripley last week were her sister Martha and hus0 band Wilson Ford of Coburg and their daughter 'Miss Marilyn Ford of MacKenzie, British Columbia. Tena and Harold` Wyld of Weston and members of their fan* visited with their son John -and his wife Karen Wyld at their home on Malcolm Street in Ripley.: They also visited with his mother Mrs. Minnie Wyld in Huronvilla and. Ins - brother Allan end Wanda Mae, their son, Bill and wife Nina and family, and their son Don on the sixth concession west in Huron -Township. Passed away s. • ; On Wednesday of last week, May 13, 1981, Leonard Reavie Irwin of Ripley and formerly of the fourth con- cession west in Huron township died in Kincardine and District hospital. The funeral service was held last , 8 Friday afternoon May 15 in the MacKenzie McCreath -Funeral Home in Ripley with Rev. Jim Bushell of St. An- drew's United Church of - Relating. Members of the „ Old Light Lodge 184 held a service in the Funeral Home at nine on Thursday evening. Interment was in Ripley cemetery. Surviving are his wife, the former Annie Ferguson; two daughters, Elaine, Mrs. Bob Irwin of • Lucknow; and Carol, Mrs. John Halliday of Owen Sound; five sons, Ronnie of Ripley, t Ernie and Ken of. Burlington, Dennis of Dart- mouth,' Nova Scotia, and Larry of Ripley, and 13 grandchildren. Leonard is also survived by his brother Bert of Ripley and his sister Kay, Mrs, George Dane of Hythe, Alberta. To all these sympathy is extended at this. time of bereavement. He • was predeceased by his parents, a sister, and four brothers.
