Last Thursday evening;
May 7, Mrs. Mavis Van
Horne of Ripley, leader of
the Ripley Girl Guides, took
eleven of her group to
Kincardine find District Hos-
pital. She had made ar-
rangements ahead for the
girls to see the interior of the
ambulance stationed at the
hospital.
Rdd MacDonald of Kincar-
dine, driver of the ambulance
showed the girls the equip-
ment, explained its uses, and
answered their questions. ,
Well in a half hour or
thereabouts the group had
inspected the ambulance and
the trip had gone according
to plans. The next part was
entirely unexpected. It just
happened and will be
remembered for years " to
come by the girls and all
there. The cars were moved
from the parking lot. Marker
flares were set up and the
police cruisers had their

landed right on the parking
lot south of the hospital. The
girls along with Mrs. Van
Horne and others'watched as
the pilot, copilot, and two
paramedic attendants came
•out and went into the,
hospital. In about twenty
minutes out came the
stretcher with the patient on
it.
Some of the Guides
recognized the patient as
Tommy Watson, their
classmate in Grade 4 at the
Ripley Huron Central
School. None of the Guides
knew that he had been in an
accident while riding his
mini bike on the South Line
after schooL The accident
was after five and was in the
vicinity of the intersection of
'the Bervie sideroad and the
South Line right near, his
home according to reports.

caused the ten -year-old rider

understand it was a touching
scene as the sad parents said
goodbye to their young son
and he • was placed in the
helicopter.
The group watched the air
ambulance lift off and head
for London. Although the
helicopter passed over this
area it was not until later
Friday. the news spread
around Ripley. Here,. folks
are hoping that the doctors
and nurses at the University
Hospital will be able to treat
successfully his serious
injuries.
Up from Toronto last
Saturday to visit her old
home village of Ripley was
Mrs. Edna (McLay) Aft-
cheson. She was ac-
companied by her =Bobby
and daughter Sharon. They
called on Fran Wylds at the
house here one tinte neigh-

Kincardine Review Reporter
Jan. 17, 1929, -there is a short
write up of the junior hockey
game between Kincardine
and Wingham, score 2 to O.
This was one of a string of
shut outs for goalie , Mel
Riggin of Kincardine. The
write up states Mel turned
the shots on the net aside
with ease and now his
grandson has been doing this
for the Cslgary Flames to
carry them into the NHL
semi-finab. Everyone here
agrees that Pat Rlggin did a
remarkable job in the

The four MacKenzie boys -
Kenneth of Listowel, Donald
of Peterborough, Lorne of
Unionville and David of
Kincardine arranged an Mtli
birthday , party for their
mother Mrs. Violet
MacKenzie recently. It was
held in the Ripley ' Huron
Legion hall. .Folks here
express their
Congratulations and best
wishes to Mrs. MacKenzie on
this happy occasion.
Mrs. • Adeline Hackett
returnedto her home in
Ripley on' Wednesday of last
week. Accompanied by her
son Jack Hackett of Kin-
cardine and her daughter
Joanne (Mrs. Bob Norman)
. Kitchener, she spent a
week visiting with her son
Jimin Edmonton, Alberta.
During their week there they
spent a day visiting cousins
at Innisfail about IN miles
south of Edmonton. Bob
Norman took them from
...itehener to Toronto airport
and also badc to Kitchener
on .their return. They report
an enjoyable visit with Jim.
Here it is Monday morning
May 11 and has it ever been
raining outside. It rained all
day yesterday, all night, and
still itis raining - -teeming
down at times. There is no
doubt that there is water in
the ground. ft is sitting in
pools in Gore Park. It Win
the basement here. Down at
the east end of Malcolm
Street Forgotten Lake is
back on both sides of the
street. Oh well there were a
couple of good days last
week for seeding operations
on the farnis in the area.
