West Wawanosh Town-
ship Council met for the
regular May session on Tues
day evening, May 5, 1981, in
the office of the Municipal
Building. All members were
in . attendance, with. Reeve
Durnin presiding.
The minutes of the April
meeting were lead,. , and
adopted on -motion of Cothi-
cillOrs Cranston and Seeger.
Motion by Councillors
Brindley and Dunk); That'
the Township of Weil Wawa
nosh, here by authorizes the
Building Inspector to issue
permits, to A. Riveft.(house);
K. McQuillin (tool shed);
and L. Shetier (barn):
Wayne and Hugh Todd.
attended the meeting and
spoke to Council Again about
flock damage to their sheep.
The claim submitted for flock
damage appeared excessive
and Council requesteaa furth-
er investigation into the in-
terpretation of the Act as it
relates to flock damage.
Correspondence from
Town of Wingham requested
the Township to cooperate
with the Town in its attempt
to ..eliminate the surcharge
knpOsed on individuals for
Participation in recreational
activates in Wingham. Al-
though Council felt few res-
idents of West Wawanosh
participate in Wingham, it is
still prepared to cooperate
with Wingham in this plan.
An application tor sever-
ance, to be returned to the
Land Division Committee
with Council's .comments,
Was • examined and discus -
sod. Council opposedthe
application under Objectives.
(5) and (6) of the , Land
Division Policy of the *Huron
County Official Plan; ie. the
parcel ,of land to be created
by. the severance would not
be of ,sufficient size for the
proposed use.
By-law #6, 1981 was given
third reading and finally
passedon motion , of Coun-
cillors ,Seeger and Brindley,.
imposing a special rate on
the east haif of lot 19,
concession 4, to cover a. tile
drainage loan.

West Wawanosh Township
Council hereby accepts the
application for loan for tile
drainage submitted by Gary,
Sproul.

West Wawanosh Township
hereby nominates Frank
MacKenzie to serve on the
Wingham and District Hos-
pital board of governors for
the year June 1981 to June
1982; and further, the Town-
ship of. West Wawanosh
nominates as an alternate
Mrs. Annie (Harold) Gaunt
to serve on the Wingham and
District Hospital board of
governors for the year June
1981 to. June 1982 in the
event the Board of governors
decides at the annual meet-
ing to call for nominations for
an additional member to
serve the townships of West
Wawanosh and Ashfield.
Council discussed the pos-
sibility of locating a baseball
diamond on the Township's
property to the north of the
Public Works Garage.
The roads accounts of
55,674.49 were ordered paid
on motion of . Councillors.

West Wawanosh Town-

Wednesday evening, May 6,
to deal with the 1981 budget
and mill rates. All members

The 1980 financial report
was examined by council
members, and the proposed
budget for 1981 presented by
the treasurer was also exam-
ined in relation to the actual

The minutes of the previ-
ous meetings were adopted
as read on motion of council-
lors Haldenby and Eadie.
Council endorsed a resolu-
tion of the town of Kincar-
dinebeing circulated to mun-
icipalities in the Lakeshore
area of southern Bruce
County, petitioning the
County.of Bruce to locate a
home tor the aged in the
town of Kincardine to service
• the Lakeshore area of south-
ern Bruce County.
• Building •permit applica-
tions were approved for John'
Button and George. Lubbers
for. additions to residences
• and for Boyd Carruthers for a
grain storage building.

West Wawanosh hereby ac-
cepts the 1980 financial
report as prepared by auditor
Mervyn Deitz of Monteith,
Monteith and Company,
Stratford, and further gives
first, second and third read-
ing to by-law # 7, 1981,
setting the mill rates for the
various purposes for the
year, with the general Muni-
cipal rate to be 55.34 mills
Farm and Residential and
65.11 mills for Business and
Commercial, and a minimum
property tax of $10.00 to be
levied on any property where
• the applied mill rate raises
less than ,that amount.
Motion by Councillors
Brindley and Seeger, That
the Township Road Superin-
tendent is hereby authorized
to advertise in local papers
for tenders for the applica-
tion of approximate 35,000
cu. yds. of pit run gravel to
new road construction on
concession road 4 - 5.
For persons employed in the harvesting �f fruit, vegetables or
tobacco, new Minimum Wage rates win go into effect Jurie 1st, 1981.
A further increase will go into effect April 1,1982.
