Circles the sun
About , two last Sunday.

ed Ab Wylds 'to, say that his

verylarge ring of light in the
sky around the sup. So out

this large circle of .white''
light completelyencircling
the sun. It iso formed by the
sunlight shining on the fine
ice crystals In the high or ch'
rus clouds. The complete cir-
cle is a rare phenomenon.
More otter just a coupleof
pieces . of , the circle are
sighted, usually coloured,
and on opposite Sides from
the sun. These are known as
sun dogs.Looking at it
through the dark sunglasses
were Tammy Fludder,
Tracy Weber ° and Fran
Wylds: It is dangerous to
look directly at the sun even
with sunglasses but the cir-
cle in this case was so large
that one could avoid'. direct
sighting; of the sun and still
see the "sun dog" circle. Our

Home from Florida
Walter and Isabel Forster
accompanied by their
daughter Ruthe and husband
Gordon Patterson arrived
back in Ripley, on the
Thursday just before Good
Friday. Mr. and Mrs:
Forster spent the winter at
their home in Pinellas Park
Florida having left Ripley
early last November. Itwas
next _ state to the north
Walter developed a sore and
swollen left :f foot and had to
enter hospital on Friday
afternoon 10th where
he remained till the follow
ing Tuesdays morning April
14. This was in the town of
Dothan in Alabama. As he
hada ride with his foot in a'n
elevated position and sit in
the back' seat; Ruthe and
Gordon shared the car driv-
ing back:

late Mrs. Norma MacLen-
