• A week ago last Saturday,
Apr. 11, John Gabble had
the misfortUne•Of suffering a
broken right ankle at his
farm on the sixth concession
east in Huron township. Ap.
parently his foot slipped
while he was standing on one
of theprongs of the
stonepicker attachment for
the front tractor buicket. The
• foot then lodged solidly
between the prongs and in
the ensuing fall the pressure
on the lower part °Utile tibia
or big shin bone caused the
fracture at the base of it. By
this time John will have a
cast on it. He had to wait till
the swelling went down. He
gets around tieing a pair of
crutches. It Was an 'later'
tunate accident happening
right at the start of the spr-

• Last Sattrday evening
therewas a big full moon in
the sky over the Ripley area -
and it was thee till dawn on
Easter • Sunday. It was
shining like the one in the
current song over Tulsa,
Oklahoma. The fact that it
was so visible at this time
brought to mind "The first
Monday after the first full
moon after March 21st is
Easter Monday."

Weston spent the Easter
weekend with their mother
Mrs. Adelene Martyn in
Ripley.
The congregation of Knox
Presbyterian Church in
Ripley expressed ap-
preciation for flowers placed
in the church for Easter
Sunday. These were as
follows - three • lilies , one
from the Ripley and District
Hortietdturall Society, one
from Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Bell of Toronto and Ripley in
memory of Mrs. A.D.
Martyn, and one from Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Bell of\
Detroit in memory of Mr.
and Mrs. Allan Maciver.

' Last week Don and Audrey
McLay of Ripley were on
Easter vacation visiting
their datighter Susan, hus-
band and • family in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Taking Don's place at the
Ripley Post Office and
assiting Mrs. Margaret
ThOmpson were Mrs. Lois Ir-
win and Mrs. Lila bitter on
different days.

last week . Betty Peterson,
nurse In the Royal Victoria
Hotpital• in Barrie, spent a
couple of hours visiting her
aunt Fran and Ab Wylds in
Ripley. Betty and. her
mother Mrs. Fran Peterson
of Barrie spent. a couple of
days with Mrs. Mae Bennett
in Ithicardthe, Mt. Bennett
and Mrs. Peterson are
sisters.

are arriving back home
