Ontario farmers will be
faced with spraying n•nietric
quantities this year. Stocks of
imperial sizeproducts will be
sold out this spring and.
replaced with metric equiva-
lents. . .
Most liquid products will
be available in metric with
the 10 litre `,(L) jug being one
of the most popular sizes.
Many companies: are intro
dicing the 20 L pad'. and.
some aye selling 2001 L

er, John Scott, Ontario Min-
istry of Agriculture and Food
associate agricultural repres-
entative, Wellington County,
suggests these tips:..
To get a feeling for metric
distance, pace off the dist-
ance between your house and
barn. If you "are of average
height, your pace is . one
metre . (1 yd plus 3 in.).
In the . corner of one field,
walk 100 steps along one

,repeatedly call for an ambulance without
good reason,
He said doctors occasionally are asked to
make a `judgement call" about Whether or
not the ambulance should go out, without`
ever having seen the patient.. _
The position of the medical staff is the
ambulance always goes, he said, since if
anything were go wrong, "the doctor always`
gets nailed".
Mr. Hayes said the policy is that the
ambulance must go out if it is called. Hesaid
he assumed any discussionwith the doctors
'probably was an attempt on the part of the
ambulance staff to sive unnecessary trips.
In other business at the meeting, Board
Chairman Jack Kopas said pledges toward
the hospital building and renovation pro-
gram continue •to flow in. Culross Township
has confirmed a S9,000donation to the fund
and, while no official letter had been
received: from Blyth, Mr., Kopas said he
believes the village will contribute $2,000.
That leaves just Howick Township and
Lucknow to confirin, he said, announcing he
plans to contact them. "Hopefully by our
nextmeeting we'llhave a commitment from
everyone." .
Later in the, meeting Dr, J. C. McKim,
who hails from Lucknow, joked that when
Reeve George Joynt goes on holiday, "the
wheels grind to a halt" in that village.
The board spent a great deal of the
meeting exhaustively Teviewing`the minutes

the tank reads in gallons, add
